Artwork Description:

This is my second edition of an etching based on a drawing by author, folklorist, and linguist CHARLES LELAND. Print measures 10 inches wide by 11 inches high, or 25.40 cm x 27.94 cm. The Media include a blend of colored oil base etching Inks from Paris, Charbonnel brand on Stonehenge Brand gray printmaking paper. This intimate work is loosely based on an illustration of an Imp by Leland, executed in Italy. Charles Godfrey Leland was born on August 15, 1824 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, in a house on the North side of Chestnut Street located two doors below Fourth Street. He passed in Florence, Italy, on March 20, 1903 and is noted for saving the Gypsy language, Romany, from extinction via his academic research and anthropological like writings. Leland also recorded vast amounts of information about Gypsy cultures throughout the world., and many believe him to be the first hands on anthropologist. Leland also authored such works as: ARADIA, GOSPEL OF THE WITCHES in 1899, and the HANS BREITMAN BALLADS in 1860. Leland also authored the amazing study entitled, ETRUSCAN ROMAN REMAINS in Etruscan Roman Remains,1892. He is buried in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The price includes frame, archival mat, handling, packing carton and Certificate of Authenticity. The image reminds me of the character, Doobie, from Harry Potter. The work is wired and ready to hang. Framing also includes a brown craft paper backing, and a wall hook and nail are included. The Third edition with include the studio technique of Chine colle, in addition to intaglio. The frame size is about 12 inches by 10 inches. The work was hand printed by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper within the Fleisher Art School OPEN STUDIO IN PRINTMAKING, where DiFalco has acted as an artists mentor and studio monitor for over a decade. The size given below is for the framed work. Note -- The first edition was printed and published in 2014 with ten etchings.
