Artwork Description:
The title is SICILIAN MONK, PSYCHEDELIC. It is this edition’s best etching of five prints, and the 3rd Edition of four. The studio techniques used included aquatint, chine collé, drypoint, and intaglio. Oil-based French inks were used on RivesBFK white paper. Mulberry bark paper from Thailand was employed in the Chine colle process. The zinc plate used for this etching measured 6 inches wide by 9 inches high, or 15.24cm by 22.86cm. The print size is 11 inches wide by 15 inches high. The image was inspired by a Dennis Kovach photograph taken in Palermo, Sicily. The sculpture of this monk stands outside the cathedral. Five soaks in a Nitric acid bath were required to achieve my desired design. The etching’s image was inspired by a color photograph created by Dennis Kovach in Palermo, Sicily outside the cathedral. Please note that this etching is shipped to the buyer without a frame or mat. This keeps the price reasonable and also allows the collector a wide range of choice in framing selection. For shipment, a sturdy cardboard box is employed. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping box and securely packed with bubble wrap. The price does not include any shipment cost.
