Helen Purcell - Early Life Helen has been painting most of her life and is largely self-taught. After studying at school in Burnley, Lancashire, she went on to pursue other avenues of interest, but always continued to paint and draw for pleasure. Graduating in Primary Education, she qualified as a Primary School Teacher. Following this she worked in varying roles in manufacturing, all of which she believes taught her to value the excitement in artistic expression and to communicate in a very honest, direct style. It has been described that her paintings'bring much pleasure to the eye, and are a talking point.' New Developments This year, as Helen made the leap from acrylic pop art into other avenues, interest in her style of work grew. She has, since then successfully sold abstract paintings in acrylic medium and commission pieces in oils. Her new skill in oil medium is an addition to her portfolio and the result of a natural creative development, as Helen continues to challenge herself and push her own artistic and technical boundaries.
