Artists Describing Their Art:
Dana Zivanovits - Dana Zivanovits was born in 1958 in Columbus, Ohio and received his art training from the Columbus College of Art and Design (1978 to 1982). After art school, he went abroad for a year and studied the art of the old masters in London, Paris, Madrid, Rome and Venice. Returning to his studio in Columbus to develop these influences into a new body of work, he then traveled to Mexico and studied the sculpture and painting of that country for an extended period. The unique and vivid colors of Palenque and Vera Cruz intensified his palette. After a period in Ohio, he then moved to Venice Beach, California where the brilliant light of the region reinforced his desire to capture effects of sunlight and atmosphere. Returning to Ohio in 1995, he has continued to paint themes deriving inspiration form sources such as world mythology, classic and B-grade cinema, literature and dreams. However his primary inspiration is direct observation from nature, versus an approach based in art theories or cultural critique. Dana has been widely represented by galleries and exhibition projects including Julie Rico and Mega Boom in Los Angeles, the Venice Art Detour, Around the Coyote Festival in Chicago ...
Khalil Dadah - My artwork is ment to reflect the trajedies of mankind . It's the safest way of expressing onself , in a world flooding with oppressors , fanatics and opportunists. Dominick Taranto - I was born in Brooklyn, New York and as a young boy I always loved to draw. While in elementary school, my teacher recommended that I attend a high school specializing in art. I enrolled in the high school for industrial art in New York City. One of my classes was in architecture. My teacher selected me for a part time job in the architectural firm of Shreve Lamb and Harmon, one of the most famous architectural firms in NYC at the time. After high school I attended Pratt institute where I continued to study architecture. Shortly afterward I obtained my architectural license and enjoyed over 50 years in practice and specialized in Healthcare architecture. Occasionally during my active career, I would try to do some painting and drawing but was not able to devote enough time to my artwork. I dreamt of having the time to pursue my passion when I retired. In 2015 my vision became a reality. I added an art studio onto my home in Bergen County where I have lived with my wife for more than 50 years. My paintings consist of my interpretation of personal photographs from my travels and from the Pinterest Website. ...
