Dana Zivanovits - Dana Zivanovits was born in 1958 in Columbus, Ohio and received his art training from the Columbus College of Art and Design (1978 to 1982). After art school, he went abroad for a year and studied the art of the old masters in London, Paris, Madrid, Rome and Venice. Returning to his studio in Columbus to develop these influences into a new body of work, he then traveled to Mexico and studied the sculpture and painting of that country for an extended period. The unique and vivid colors of Palenque and Vera Cruz intensified his palette. After a period in Ohio, he then moved to Venice Beach, California where the brilliant light of the region reinforced his desire to capture effects of sunlight and atmosphere. Returning to Ohio in 1995, he has continued to paint themes deriving inspiration form sources such as world mythology, classic and B-grade cinema, literature and dreams. However his primary inspiration is direct observation from nature, versus an approach based in art theories or cultural critique. Dana has been widely represented by galleries and exhibition projects including Julie Rico and Mega Boom in Los Angeles, the Venice Art Detour, Around the Coyote Festival in Chicago ...

Justin Yanke - Inspired by photographs, I paint portraits of myself, close friends, and a variety of foods in which I consume on a daily basis. These elements are convenient for me to access, but I feel that what is closest to you can define who you are. There is a sense of isolation felt within each piece, which helps to showcase the subject in it's purest form, without any distractions. To help further enforce a strong presence, I choose to work larger than life and include a vast array of detail. It is very important that the image is able to speak for itself, all alone. My initial intention is to document the subject matter, but my abilities as a realist painter are a crucial element within the overall experience of my work as well. The photo process allows me to set the proper lighting and placement, but instead of simply copying the photographic itself, I strive to locate elements of the subject that may have been flattened by the camera and extenuate the overall depth of the form. The ability to paint from a photograph and somehow enrich the visual experience of the image is the challenge I live for. ...
Eduardo Diaz - Statement My name is Eduardo DIaz and Iim a Mexican artist residing in the Bay Area since 2001. In my work I express different elements of Mexican culture, while emphasizing its Native American heritage. I incorporate native themes and images, both extant and prehispanic, into my works and combine them with personal feelings, experiences or fears. Although cultural elements are the essence of my art, through them I also like to express political and social opinions. As a Mexican, I feel in touch with the problems at the Mexican-American border, as well as with the issues facing Mexican immigrants. I also like to express the tension between the indigenous and the industrialized worlds, and to analyze the different elements that make up Mexican identity, especially when confronted with life in a different country. My favorite medium is oil painting. I use vivid and deep colors, with which I reflect the light of the Mexican sun. Some of my compositions are figurative, and oscillate between realistic scenes and more elaborated images, with affinity to surrealism. My most recent productions are less figurative and combine the same vivid colors into expressive abstract constructions. Biography My name is Eduardo D...
Jacqueline Weegels Burns - My whole life I have always been involved in arts and crafts. Now, having two children, my art seems more eclectic than ever, because I am influenced by them and THEIR art. In turn it is wonderful to see how I inspire them with my stories and art. We have created art together, ranging from home made cards, watercolor pictures, multi-media images, 3-D objects and much more. My art will always be varied as I enjoy switching between small detailed pictures and larger abstract works....
David Herold - Welcome to my portfolio! My name is David Herold and I live in historic El Paso, Texas. I recently got back into art after a brief 30 year absence while pursuing a hectic career in Insurance and Financial Planning. One morning I woke up and decided that I didn't want to do that anymore! I graduated from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico in l972 with a double major in Art, History, and a minor in business. I studied art under world renowned oil painter, Elmer Schooley, and water color artist Ray Drew. I grew to love water color and was drawn to Native American faces and figures. The Native American history is sad and overlooked by many. The culture, traditions and customs facinate me. To be able to hang on to your culture in this day and time is truly remarkable. I learned that you can tell a lot about people in my former career. I met with literally thousands of differnt people in that 30 year time frame. I learned that you can tell alot from their eyes. You can detect joy, happiness, sadness, horrow, truthfulness, and yes lies. Believe me when I say,"...
