Oleg Khe - My path to art was not direct and planned. I got a journalism education and had a great career as an editor and publisher. It was only in adulthood that I realized that my real passion was art. I took a risk and now Im doing everything to realize my destiny. Every morning I wake up with the promise that today I will work to the limit of my abilities and capabilities. And every single day thats exactly what I do. In my art I try to understand the nature of women, to tell their stories. Each drawing is an episode in which I experience the feelings of the heroine, I go through her difficult path. Thats how my empathy manifests itself. More and more often I draw on secondary raw materials - old issues of newspapers and used office paper. I use what we usually throw in the trash. I want to say that old things can become a work of art. To some extent, I am the same old paper that dreams of its rebirth. ...
Yaroslav Kurbanov - Interview with artist Yaroslav Kurbanov 2011 How do you define what is art for you and what is not My attitude towards art in general and my art in particular is defined by the following points Firstly - A work of art has to have an idea, whether its current or already in the context of history. The main thing is that it should excite the viewer, awaken his senses and invite reflection. These days, artists often try to replace the whole palette of emotions that art is meant to evoke with plain shock and rejection. Secondly - The artist must find the right material, as well as the right technique and form, to express his idea in the best possible way. One should not stick blindly to any style, especially if it does not meet the objectives that the artist has set out to achieve. The work of art must come first, not the personality of the artist. And a work of art has to work even without the context of the person who created it. We may not know about the life of the artist, the travails of his artwork or his path, but the artwork must still impress us. ...
Istvan Szil - Istvan Szil/ crossingthetsdottingtheis Artist's Statement My work is based on the reconfiguration of materials and images . I alter objects and materials with the extreme sense of irony; choosing to address philosophical questions and cultural issues through employing succint humorous gestures. I constantly collect images from the internet , recognizing its search option as an unparaleled oportunity to gain access to wide variety of visual material. I alter the collected images by digital means to accommodate my comments relating to their source or context they were culled from. My sculptures enact visual stunts calling into question how objects are utilized within everyday life citing both the subtle marks that become embedded within objects and also also the effect that objects have within space. I am interested in the vocabulary of advertising and its ability to deliver the maximum of information in reductive , visual bites. Overall, my work shifts the use value of commonplace objects and images , through my subtle interventions. I invite the viewer to reflect upon these meticulously selected entities that are normally encountered within everyday life and by manipulating their functionality , I invest these objects and materials with a unique yet accessible sculptural presence. ...
Hans Andre - Rarely do I willingly speak of my paintings. What I see is not necessarily the same as you see. The paintings should only be seen in the viewers own eyes. However, in my last solo exhibition during the fall in Milan, organized by Camaver Kunsthaus, an Italian asked why the people in the paintings are always blind. The answer is simple, although people may see physically, it does not make them look mentally. Unfortunately, most people are blind. Visit : www.hansandre.com...
Robert Arnold - For a long time now, I have been interested in squares with five sides. Most people call these pentagons, but I don't because of the obvious political implications. Let's just say that a square with five sides is far more interesting than a square with four sides. My work is often about things involving five; five letters to Filippo Lippi, as well as a variation on the painting that Filippo might have painted after receiving those five letters, five new red Prada pope shoes. Some of those works are here. I am also interested in things that don't involve five, and some of those are also here. Ever since I was a child, I have been very interested in Italy. Although I am not Italian, I grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Buffalo, was heavily influenced by my Italian friends and their parents and worked for a number of years in a restaurant in Buffalo that was owned by an Italian gentleman and frequented by the mafia. I also like to travel to Italy, and very much like the way the Italian people live their lives. Someday I may live there. Although I don't understand ...
