Pauline Allen - My name is Pauline Allen. I have been working with mosaics for over 20 years alongside my professional career. People often comment on the detail in my work and the colours. On many occasions I have been asked if I sell my work and people have been amazed when I have said no. When I reached 60 I decided to make a change to my career path and follow a long held ambition to work exclusively with mosaics. The inspiration for my artwork comes from everyday observations and my love of wildlife, trees, gardens and places of beauty in my home county of Northumberland, England. I work with a wide range of coloured ceramic tiles which enables me to express my myself through my art. Every piece of my work is different because it is hand built, detailed, colourful and evokes interest as the eye explores the hidden depths within the art. Working with mosaics is extremely time consuming art form but for me it is a labour of love.
