  • Artists Describing Their Art:

    C. A. Hoffman - For me, my artwork is very personal. It reflects a lot about how I am feeling at any given time and place. I feel that art has to be on this personal level to completely capture how the artist is feeling daily, or trying to convey a certain thought or emotion at that particular moment. We all, at one time or another try to express our thoughts or ideas, whether it is to others or just to ourselves, by words, actions, ideas or pictures. If we are sucessful in this attempt, I think it shows through in our everyday work or art. I believe that one is either born to create art naturally or by learning. For me, I feel that I was born with this wonderful gift, and I try to improve upon it every day. In my photos and art, I hope to show how everyday objects and nature can capture our imaginations and feelings. Sometimes I work with an image to improve it, inhance it, or just to fuel the imagination. I truly hope this shows in all of my art. ...

Nancy Bechtol - Artists explore and give the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. I visualize and think with keen beliefs and insights. Reflection of human and societal concerns which cross emotional boundaries-- communicating that which is unspoken. My traditional art foundations of drawing, painting and printmaking, evolved into video, digital photography and experimental media. I use digital photography and imaging to envision the concepts originating from the creative pulse. An individual artist explores and gives the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. Paula Durbin - Photography has always captured my spirit. It was only natural that my creative "release" be expressed through the same medium. But, because I am a unique spirit, it had to have other levels of creativity - the photo itself just wasn't enough. My first creative approach to photography was the use of the Polaroid transfer technique. My work consisted of subjects that are still close to me: animals and nature. The technique suited me well; it expresses the selected image seen and it allows me to further express its beauty with the softness of the technique. The watercolor paper used brings yet another dimension to the image. A search for the true expression in my photography led me to explore the techniques of the Fresson family of photographers. The Fresson technique, which culminates in the special care given the developmental process and the paper used, presented me the opportunity to express the richness of my photography. My work now moves beyond that 'moment' and presents a depth and richness perhaps not otherwise felt. I am honored to be a part of the Fresson family. There are only a limited number of artists with whom I share this honor. Having gone ...

Einav Zilber - As an art lover, I want to see art not only in the museum or gallery but rather see art in my daily surroundings of where I live. Be it the hair dresser, a book shop, a cafe or the local launderette. I think there's something exciting about being able to see art everywhere, stop for a moment (or more) from the days' work and hectic life we live, to look and explore new realms of creation and give me another look and maybe even a glimpse to the creativity and life of others. This idea had been on my mind for a while, bit by bit I could see it come to life in Tel Aviv, where I live, not just the events the municipality make, but rather small initiatives. As a photographer it gives me a lot of space to enjoy and create. I call it Art Around. ...

Ellen Rosenberg - aEURoeWhen you approach something to photograph, first be still with yourself until the object of your attention affirms your presence. Then donaEURtmt leave until you have captured its essence.aEUR Minor White Art is neither a profession nor a hobby. Art is a way of being. It is an expression of the human spirit and an integral part of all beings. My creative passion is expressed through the art of photography, allowing for a vocabulary of imagery that is my own. These photographs arise out of my own spirituality, a practice of mindfullness and being fully awake to the present moment. As my journey has taken me deeper into the study of Dharma I have recognized that the camera becomes an extension of my being. I bring the camera to my eyes and aEURoefeelaEUR the image that appears in front of me with a heightened awareness. An opening to the world precisely as it is, offering up all the richness and beauty that is present within this moment of time. I seek to create an intimacy with my photographs, allowing for the viewer to feel the art form, not as a two dimensional visual archive of a moment, but to...

German Guerra - The reason for creation my abstract works is very simple and very complex. I feel the strong necessity to compose and produce this kind of work. For me iti?1/2s like a serious game with color, form and music. I doni?1/2t know what i?1/2am I looking fori?1/2 with my works, just I know that I have to do it. Other kind of work like Cityscape or Graffitis arise because it's part of interesting visual in each city. For me it's very complicated to walk everywhere without the camera. ...
