Artists Describing Their Art:
Alice Banciu - Alice Banciu is a Romanian artist living in Bucharest. Although she has a predilection for abstract paintings, Alice also likes to indulge in delicate impressionism. Her paintings range from the conceptual surrealistic expressions of human emotions and relationships to innocent and almost naive nature representations. When talking about making art, her code of conduct is "I'd rather offend morals than aesthetics." ...
Kathy Siney - Kathy is a self-taught artist with no formal training; she specialises primarily in watercolour paints, as well as using inks and pencils. Her work has been published in two books, 'Imagine 2006' and 'Faeries through the Seasons' and more recently, her work has been licensed to merchandising companies for sale all over the world. Kathy doesn't feel her art follows any particular style; she loves to create all things faery related, be it sweet faeries in pretty dresses or vivacious, gothic maidens whom you would never catch daintily tiptoeing through the flowerbeds! She prefers to be diverse, and creates art ranging from detailed portrait images to cartoon style characters. Kathy loves Pin-up art, Manga and Comic Book art, and has created a series of faery characters based upon these themes...... a wonderful excuse to incorporate wild hair, burlesque style figures and cheeky costumes! Inspiration comes from literally everywhere; books, films, music, dreams and nature; the woodlands and the elements - as well as her Pagan beliefs and love of all things mythological and magical. Her greatest influences are from other artists, as well as encouragement from fellow artist friends who all support each other in various internet forums ...
Sumana Biswas - Life began, like that of any mortal, with my birth. However, I started 'living' when I began to feel and register the various nuances associated with the two fundamental parts of human existence - joy and sorrow. This process was further augmented by the diverse associations with like-minded people which inevitably develop based on the most fundamental of human associations - the prime one being that of one's family. Concurrently, there developed those emotions which evolve from the complexities and tensions linked with alternating periods of happiness and grief, hope and despair. These emotions can not be properly expressed by means of language - spoken or written. It is the irrepressible urge to express these very 'untold words' which acted as a catalyst to focus all my attention to painting. I felt that it is through this medium that I could express these complex and sensual emotions. To me the very act of interacting with the canvas is a form of meditation. Further, with the hope to rid (or at least alert) society of its present state of disjoint - mostly due to the disharmony that has plagued us in recent times due mostly to atrocities in all walks of life - that ...
Linda Nesbit-Floria - I am inspired by so many things from Architecture and Fine Art, to Nature, Fashion and Pop Culture. I am a self-taught photographer, I photograph any object that jumps out and says "Capture Me." I create a whole new palette of textures and colors digitially. I create expressive art by using the combination of Photoshop and it's digital paint brushes. I am constantly developing new techniques that blurs the lines between photography and hand-created art. Photographs contain fine details. I transform my photos by changing their size, orientation, color, shadows, and highlights. I filter out the fine details to resemble a traditional painting. The fine detail is replaced by simplified strokes and color. I re-create all of the details. The final result breaks down the photographic qualities and reduces them to my personal expression of art. All original art is made-to-order with infinite options and applications, each image can also be personalized. Custom sizes are available as limited edition hi-resolution reproductions. Images are re-sized proportionately to the originals. Images are printed on archival quality giclee, canvas, and heavy weight mould made water color paper....
Louise Marquis - I sprang from inner New York City where my mother, an artist, was my first informal art teacher. But I chose to major in music at the High School of Music & Art (now LaGuardia Arts). After moving to Los Angeles, I studied art at Mission:Renaissance and a smattering of workshops. I have done much in a more traditional or classical vein, especially portraits. I would focus on physical features (mass) and try to convey some of the personality, emotions or motion (energy). One day, I got the idea to focus more on the energy than the mass of the subject. That slight shift in concept radically changed my approach. The resulting work can be called expressionist, intuitive or visionary; I call it energetic. My artwork is still very much influenced by music. And of course, the evolution continues....
