Artists Describing Their Art:
Kathy Siney - Kathy is a self-taught artist with no formal training; she specialises primarily in watercolour paints, as well as using inks and pencils. Her work has been published in two books, 'Imagine 2006' and 'Faeries through the Seasons' and more recently, her work has been licensed to merchandising companies for sale all over the world. Kathy doesn't feel her art follows any particular style; she loves to create all things faery related, be it sweet faeries in pretty dresses or vivacious, gothic maidens whom you would never catch daintily tiptoeing through the flowerbeds! She prefers to be diverse, and creates art ranging from detailed portrait images to cartoon style characters. Kathy loves Pin-up art, Manga and Comic Book art, and has created a series of faery characters based upon these themes...... a wonderful excuse to incorporate wild hair, burlesque style figures and cheeky costumes! Inspiration comes from literally everywhere; books, films, music, dreams and nature; the woodlands and the elements - as well as her Pagan beliefs and love of all things mythological and magical. Her greatest influences are from other artists, as well as encouragement from fellow artist friends who all support each other in various internet forums ...
Sandra Costa Bras - After trying several painting and photography techniques, I chose watercolour as the main media of expression of feelings, sensations and thoughts. The paintings always start with small dots of water and colour and through the interaction of both the paintings are born. All the things lost and lock in my memory, feelings and thoughts, images, landscapes, places, people and situations, appear between, the fields of colour, the lines, the forms and become alive. I found, working with watercolours, my inner self. Watercolours were chosen as my main technique cause, with then and with small pieces of paper, I express myself totally. I no longer fell the pressure and the need, I felt before, of working on large canvas and I feel free to do whatever it comes to my mind. So the result of these last years of work is those paintings full of light, colour, life and movement. I found myself as a painter....
