  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Eleanor Hartwell - I am a self taught artist. I like to explore in all types of media, and try out a variety of style and type of work. I have a lot of fun doing what I do. I have done a series of drawings for a book on Harehunting, which will be published in the spring of 2002. "One Day at a Time" In October of 2002, New Hampshire Public Radio will be offering a "gift" of a mug to thier fall fund drive donaters, featuring my painting done specially for this project. ...

Colette Theriault - New Website: visit www.colettetheriault.com for complete portfolio gallery! Growing up surrounded by the rugged wilderness of Northern Ontario, my love of nature began at an early age. I was inspired by my family who's love of the outdoors manifested itself by countless days of fishing, hunting and camping. Drawn by the beauty and mystery of nature, I was always on the lookout for wildlife, exploring every inch of the forest floor or tree canopy. As a result, I had a need to express this beauty through my drawings and paintings. This undying urge to learn as much as I could about the living world around us later led me to an Honors Bachelor of Science Degree specializing in Biology while I continued to paint and draw part time. My favorite mediums include graphite pencil and watercolor but I also work with acrylic, oil and pastel. I am a self-taught artist and enjoy very much experimenting with different forms of art. My other interests include photography, furniture designing, small mammal husbandry and gardening. To learn how to build your own custom wood frames, visit my woodworking site at:

Kah Wah Chong - To me, art is like a song. I wish my painting can wave up viewer soul, to feel the inner or the real characteristic of the object...or i hope the viewer can feel what i feel. Like music i basically using color and composition to compose my painting while ignore local color...and i also think i should draw what the world ought to be rather than what the world should look like...and the main thing is i really enjoy the PROCESS of painting....

Joanna Batherson - My inspiration for art has come from drawing and the nature surrounding our world. My painting began as a hobby and through taking many courses and instruction from various Maine artists, traveling in USA and abroad, and moving to beautiful California,it has become a wonderful and fulfilling part of my life....

Shaukat Mulla - i percive a patntig in terms of a poem.a poem presents the total picture of harmony.a poem-picture you read every line saperatly, but the meaning remains one with one another a painting like a poem ought to be a picture harmony--a harmony between the forms, space colours, lines texture and visual experience .the abstract content of painting my quest is for rediscovery of lost harmony a grammer of colours which effectively illuminates my attitude to everyday life my skill comes from everyday events, vibrant or tender brush stokes emerge straight from the heart, everything around is a source of inspiration....

Charles Rowland - Charles Rowland works in various media, including watercolor, gouache and pen and ink. He has lived in the Columbus, Ohio area since 1970 and currently resides in southern Delaware County A watercolor artist for over 20 years he is both an active artist and teacher. His work has won many awards in Ohio area exhibitions and can be found in private and corporate collections throughout the Midwest, West and southern United States. His work is represented by The Armory, Port Clinton, Ohio, JR Designs, Powell, Ohio, the Pump House Center for the Arts in Chillicothe, Ohio, the Kelly Graphics gallery in Milan, Ohio and various exhibitions around the state. He is past President of the Worthington Area Art League, a signature member of the Ohio Watercolor Society, Central Ohio Watercolor Society, and the Worthington, Ohio and Westerville, Ohio Art Leagues. His work is characterized by strong design and a solid approach to the technical fundamentals of the medium. While avoiding "photorealism", his painting style captures the essence and emotion of the subject while involving the viewers' imagination in its' interpretation. The choice of subject matter is diverse ranging from seascapes and landscapes to still lifes and portraits. An avid sailor, ...

Charles Rowland - Diana Millerpierce - I am attracted to scenes involving strong clear light, that will cast strong shadows for subject matter. I look for a composition of strong dark and light patterns to create a dynamic tension and energy in a painting. My work is drawn from realism of nature, but the overall pattern creates a great deal of abstraction. Color is planned to enhance the tensions and drama in my overall compositions. I hope my paintings help the viewer arrive at a different perspective of the world and its beauty....

Chuka Machie - I am a self taught artist from eastern part of Nigeria in West Africa. My style of art work is not consistent since it fluctuates between realism and aabtract. They depict different level of life and forms though I prefer to work mostly on theme that portrays African(predominantly Nigerian)way of life and culture....

Sue Mohr - I try to express relationships between seemingly incongruous objects/ideas, and encourage a highly personal interpretation by each viewer. My art work reflects diverse experiences and interests, the most obvious of these being Japanese influence. My interest in spirituality, especially of Judaic and Native American cultures, provides further inspiration. ...

Charles Edmunds - Due to AbsoluteArts...I have been much more visible on the Web...and for this, I am grateful. CharlesofCharleston See More of my Paintings: Below at Charles ART LINKS See Charles at ShoreAcres State Park

Roger Farr - Born in Much Wenlock Shropshire, England 1957.One of 14. My family life and upbringing was in the countryside. Always having a love for wildlife and animals, Archibald Thorburn,Fenwick Landsdowne,Raymond Harris Ching,David Shepherd,Rembrant and Mary Cassat were great influences in the early stages and latter stages of my work, this was complimented with having a grandfather who was an artist and a father who was a gamekeeper. Much of my work was self taught up to the age of 18, this was when my first sale of original paintings took place in Salt Spring Island, Canada.Bought by a collector of wildlife paintings who had noticed my work through a member of my family who lives there. In 1985 I started to work for Shropshire Trust For Nature Conservation, providing illustrations of wildlife subjects for schools and colleges. My work started to be recognised and other opportunities arose including other wildlife and community based projects. Whilst visiting Shropshire Conservation Group one day, David Attenborough commented that I should develop this skill further. So in 1993 after a four year course I obtained a BA(Hons) in Visual Communication, specialising in Illustration at Wolverhampton University. On graduating ...

Michelle Scott - Michelle Scott has been a visual artist since the 4th grade when her teacher introduced her to its "magic". She attended American River College in Sacramento and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena majoring in Illustration. Please visit her personal website at:

Stephanie Hayden - My work varies in style, i try to capture moments of my life on different canvases, from watercolours, acrylics, to montages, sculpture and my photography. Much of my work is dark & disturbing and i can attribute it to the fact that until recently i was registered blind, legally, having been born with dislocated lenses. The more vibrant & colourful works are from my later period after i had surgery to implant interocular lenses, thus i now see the world in a totally different way. This can be seen across my portfolio....
