  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Nicole Pereira - NICOLE PEREIRA Nicole Pereira is a young rising artist who started producing artwork at the young age of 4. Nicole noticed that she had a gift for art when her artwork was selected in her local public school and community art competitions. The local press also started raving about Nicoles work. With encouragement from her family and friends, Nicole now devotes all of her free time to paint abstract portraits that express her feelings and emotions. Originally, she started drawing realistic portraits of individuals and celebrities, but felt that she wanted to add more. By careful reinterpretation of the portrait, the use of broad brushstrokes and vivid colors, Nicole conveys her thoughts, feelings and emotion to the canvas to create unusual artwork. Nicole is just beginning to get recognition in the art world as a gifted and unique artist and her potential is unlimited....

Jerry Ross - Manifesto of American Verismo By Jerry Ross, 2012 "American verismo", a movement that I have recently founded, is a catch-all phrase for an artistic style that draws its main inspiration from Italian art, both classical and modern. There is an implied nostalgia for work done "dal vero" (after life) whether classical (Raphael, Rubens, or Caravaggio, etc.) or 19th century (the Tuscan I Macchiaioli school) or more contemporary. Verismo is somewhat akin to contemporary "atelier realism" but the latter has been criticized for an academic uniformity and its over attention to details. American verismo is more poetic and linked to post-impressionism, the Milan-based Scapigliatura ('wild hair') movement, and the I Machiaioli's commitment to social issues. But like atelier realism, American verismo is associated with a painterly sketching style, use of broad brushstrokes, and the alla prima, "direct attack" technique of painting. It is also linked to all'aperto (open air) impressionist-style landscape painting. In short, to pleinairism which has become widely popular in recent years. I first introduced the term during several classes he taught at the Maude Kerns Art Center in Eugene and then later at the "Angels Fight Road Art Center" plein air retreat...

David Fedeli - "I believe that as an artist, it is not my purpose to dictate what the viewer sees on the canvas, but rather to pose a question that causes them to seek an answer within themselves. Each individual brings their own life experiences into the decision, and for each of them the meaning is truly unique. My passion lies in reaching that inner self, and drawing it into, and out of, my art. My goal is to create a moment that touches their soul."...

Seiglinda Welin - i liked what you can draw on paper its hav ing something you like on your walls its a 1 off item not mass produce and not costing an arm and a leg be it a nude to astill life art is not about who painted it but about the people who buy it,like it buy it, you have a choice my birth name is sieglinda but have always used the name linda and sighed my name as linda Im a self taught artist have been drawing since i was 15 have cover many mediums oils, watercolours, pastels, but always come back to pen&ink have shown and sold my work around australia my prints of the kalgoorlie pubs have gone over the world i try to sell the work not for the money not for, hay look how good i am , not to make an impact in the art world its just for supplies so i can keep learning i belive art should not or be dictated to by the chosen few, because they say so , art should be your choice if you like it buy it its call free choice ...

Israel Tsvaygenbaum - I believe that art is as necessary as the air we breathe; it is what makes us human. As an artist, my role is to help people fulfill this need. My medium is oil on canvas. I like the roughness, the vibrancy of oil. Through oil, I can best express myself. I love the process of painting. When I'm painting, I don't think about the finished product or the viewer; I just focus on being true to the process. Before I ever touch the canvas, or begin to sketch, I let the images swirl around in my mind. Then, I begin a series of sketches to translate my thoughts into more concrete images. As the images take shape on the canvas, they begin to change. Sometimes, I myself am surprised at the outcome. What kind of painting do I do? I don't like labels; I prefer to be free to interpret my ideas as they come to me. Some of the themes that have figured in my paintings are my personal past, Jewish history, Biblical themes and nature. A number of my paintings are set in Derbent, a city in the south of Russia where I spent ...

Venczak Marianna - I'm a graphic artist, illustrator and painter since 1993. Since then, I have been a Board of Presidency of the "National association of Lovers of Art". My paintings are often a mix of reality and fantasy - emotional reflections of the world surronding us: sparkles of moments I captured and embraced....

Sven Froekjaer Jensen - To build a bridge between different worlds of expression, to span the abyss between the diversity of human minds, to reach out for the sublime, that is my challenge. Therefore I have to maneuver in a battlefield between old techniques and the new expressions of our time. That means to work in two directions all the time, one way from the old masters of the 19th century especially the drawing skills of the so called Copenhagen school with a very profound technical base, and the other way a freedom of expression, that is the only highway to the description of our time and the dreams and goals of present life. One could express it in another way saying, that I make modern myths in my fabulating paintings. But on the other hand the technical skills acquired from the drawing exercises are a necessity for getting the freedom that makes the fabulations possible. By creating the nonverbal myths on my canvasses I hope to reach the onlooker in a way that brings our minds together so we can walk the paths of understanding - dreaming the very old dreams of humanity. Therefore I work very intensely with drawings of the human and...

Evie O. Bridges - I have always been passionate about art. As a child, my Dad was my first fan. He encouraged me to pursue art since I enjoyed it so much. My Mom helped with my decision in choosing the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines where I finished my degree in Fine Arts. I worked as a junior artist before my college graduation, then later taught art and finally established my own tutorial business. Creating art gives me solace from my environment. I like studying people's features when I meet with them and finding beauty in my own way. Each person is unique so I try not to have a set formula for doing skin tones on my portraits. Respect for my subject comes through my work which displays my sensitivity as an artist to each individual's character. A camera can capture the likeness of a person; an artist can reveal the imaginative creation of a person's inner self. I find my inspiration by reading art books and how different artists approached their paintings into realism. I'm big fan of Steve Hank's work, he does stunning watercolors of pure visual enjoyment for the viewer. His insight ...

Pim Van Der Wel - Pim van der Wel (1950) combines the art of making watercolours with his work as a business economist. After lessons in all the basic drawing techniques by two Dutch painters in the periods 1980/1987 and 1994/1996 he specialised himself in watercolours. Watercolour offers hardly any limitations, so he can show what he likes and that is light and shadow in dents, creases and gloss etc. His objects are sports (mainly football), cans, torsos, animals (cows, sheep, dogs and chicken). In the last 10 years his work has been shown at (group-)exhibitions in the Netherlands. Some galleries have his works permanently in stock. ...

Mark Baranowski - I've been blessed with the talent for drawing, thus I do so with the utmost attention to every detail I see in the original images I work from--I wouldn't expect anyone to show an interest in my work, otherwise. People fascinate me, especially their facial features and expressions, as do urban landscapes and architecture. These subjects make up the majority of my portfolio. Though I've been drawing for nearly as long as I could write my name, I've yet to achieve my goal of gaining worldwide recognition for my works, not to mention making a comfortable living in doing so. Perhaps via absolutearts...?...

Joanna Glazer - The inner images and bold colours Joanna Ewa Glazer incorporates in her work convey a sense of abundance, total immersion into life and optimism. In her paintings, she creates a space of beauty and paradise in the way that shows resilience and strength regardless of circumstances. Each painting is like a poem , a life affirming experience." All her work is also about sense of identity, search for it and hints as to where to find it She finds her sources in fashion magazines, newspapers, books, art reviews, and advertising. Even a simple image in everyday newspapers may awaken emotion. Joanna Ewa Glazer has travelled and lived for long periods in numerous countries: Poland, France, Italy, Japan, USA, Belgium and UK. She was born in Gdansk (Poland).. ...

Richard Wynne - Richard is an acclaimed International Artist recently returned to the USA. Richard has lived in many Countries. "The last being Thailland. He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. When I am troubled the concentration it takes to lift makes me calm. I guess my page will probably be a little different from what people expect. Sorry I have not been uploading new work as ...
