Yuming Zhu - I land my brush with the force of a giant rock splashing into the ocean. I am not looking for a beautiful painting, but to express Life itself. Painting is just like a stacking of passions. Painting is a method of striping myself naked and facing the truth of my inner emotion. I invite the viewer to experience through my paintings the joy of being alive right at this moment. I believe I can do lots of things, but painting and poetry are the best beloved channels to express my complicated emotions. Originally from Shanghai, Yuming began studying under the masters at a young age. After his BA from China, Yuming came to the States and graduated from Sonoma State University with his MA in 1991. Working in oils, pastels and ChineseSumi Watercolors, Yumings work is a unique blend of East meets West artistry. It is a style that Yuming refers to as Transism, in reference to the constantly evolving interests, which include observations on modern life, a love of music, and an exploration of his own unique heritage. Hye Shin - The fiber art pieces I create are not traditional images of landscape as seen from the external environment. They are atmospheric, abstract images mainly focused on expressing a sense of place, or a mood or feeling. My works also involve many dilemmas such as life and death, sorrow becoming pleasure, and adoration versus loathing. When creating, I often take a moment to juggle the values and anticipate the consequences. When I struggle with my life, I am drawn toward Nature, which does not deceive me. It is always genuine, sincere, and tranquil, yet solid; that inspires me with an unabashedly beautiful and poignant dialogue. Thus I combine abstractions, geometrical constructions and transformations in the composition and design of my artwork. To begin, I weave a web and create a grid, and then push the limitations of that grid by adapting and resurfacing with fiber and non-fiber material. On this base, I create the image in contrasts: transparency and opacity, defined edges and amorphous shapes, hairy textures and smooth surfaces, matte and shiny, intense color and subtle hue, light and shadow. Caren Keyser - My expressionist paintings are done using an intuitive process. I begin with the paint and then allow the paint and my subconscious to lead me to the subject matter. Exciting interactions between colors evolve from brushwork, pouring, glazing, spraying and other techniques. I strive to show the essence of the subject rather than paint an overly realistic image. I never know what I will find next in my work. I hope it will be dramatic and emotional. Note that the paintings are not framed. ------------------------------------- I began painting professionally in 1977 after studying art at Florida Atlantic University. There I explored the many styles and techniques available to the acrylic painter. My first photo-realism style piece was created while attending FAU. I knew from that moment that realistic nature scenes would be my style of choice. This remained my theme and style until after 2005. As time has passed my work has changed and become more creative in its processes. Color is still the dominant feature in my work. Ingemar Hardelin - Prior to my exhibitions I have ever wondered what really is relevant to point out. Generally I would not say much because my basic position is that the paintings may speak for themself. They live their own lives behind the words. But something overall may be said after all. I choose to summarize most of my production under the term "motion". Since I througout adult life has been a performing cellist on the side of my civilian profession, has music in mostly been a driving force and inspiration. Music is movement, and movement is an expression of life. In the same way I experience my painting. In colors is life, music, rhythm. Nature, city life and fashion are the sources of inspiration, The goal is to turn the simple details into new visual dimensions of light and color and to discover the infinite possibilities within an image. Through the years I accumulated a vast collection of photographs taken during my trips to Asia, Europe, North America and Central America. In 2002 the discovery process was initiated.
