Artists Describing Their Art:
Paul Carroll - In the act of observing , an object, figure, the idea is understood, by my perspective, a place in time, and interpretation, an interactive relationship between myself and that which is observed. I have always felt, upon the rendering through painting a kind of intimacy is developed, though the act of mind, hand, heart. As a painter I explore the risk of materials and ideas, as well as the autonomy the work itself demands, in order to explore the unfamiliar, in the hopes of creating something new. My inspiration comes from my environment and experience, I grew up and studied in the epicentre of chance, New York City, saturated with urban messaging, a landscape awash in pre-digital billboards built with layers upon layers of peeling information no longer conveying a single message but a visual distortion of fact, a decomposing testament to a rate of change not comprehensible by the average passerby. Though the means of the Abstract I attempt to make the unconscious, conscious by the use of allegory and symbolism to bridge the gap between the intellectual, thought filled real world, and the intuitive, spiritual world of the senses, in the hopes of imbuing the richness of a ...
Mijal Zachs - My work is a tautological investigation on painting. I started it while reflecting on the representation and simulation of reality, transforming the pictorical realm with the strategies of camuflage. Here, painting is not part of the context, but it's rather created as the support and is mediated by the interlocutor aEUR" the observer. The painting moves seducing the canvas and, as it advances, it copies itself in a mimetic manner and it represents itself as if it were a reflection. The mirror reproduces in a game of viewing, pretending to see itself but being someone else; a subtle vail that faces its condition of mask, guiding us towards reality....or maybe not. Through this investigation I have found different surroundings: from fabrics with given patterns, to tapistries, papers and woods. All of them have relinquished to me their condition and I have established with them a dialogue. The painting, loyal to its author, creates new strategies as it progresses and it developes through roads that intersect with each other and deliniate new trails. Its discourse moves forward with the aEURoeIaEUR being aEURoethe other.aEUR When I intervene without hiding the fabric's pattern, I develope an equilibrium that creates the ilusion ...
Gilberto Jose Alexander Moreno - Inspiration I enjoy creating with colors, shapes (figures) and the creation of pure forms and abstracts. Painting is for me more than a natural ability, that is "Joy" of creation and expression to the world myself. Diverse mix of colors and their intensity inside my work plays very end. The result is not only (just) anything but the last experience a wonderful journey undertaken (covered) between me and the colors in their purest forms. Working with polycarbonate plastic (the CD'S). The idea here is basically the interaction with light, plastic mailing carbonate (CD'S), acrylic colors combined, creating a halo of color spectrum, a cosmic explosion of colors prism, reflecting and looking like a "Rainbow", and a spherical arrangement. With or without direct light, the interaction of carbonate plastic post on the canvas and arranged in coordination with the myriad of colors impulsive, creates a feeling of a special show, sleight of hand a dilemma between the pigments mystic splash of colors applied to raw and the ultimate essence of colors itself, " Light". Art Art is and could be applied as the ultimate mean and intention in obtaining and fully manifesting your god given aptitude and therefore, living your ...
Susan Cantor-Uccelleti - My Statement as an artist and what art means to me and effects my life aEURoeArt Heals Body and SoulaEUR Abstract Expressionism gives me the freedom to express my inner feelings and also how I see the world around me through color and movement. My paintings are my life on canvas which I hope to be able to share so others can see the beauty and the wonders around us. This gives me purpose to go on, to be able to create is to live. Painting has always been part of life, in my early years I painted what I was able to see, but now I paint my emotions. My life, as everyone, has had its ups and downs. Each of my paintings represent my moods and situations around me. When you first look at my art, you will see colors, but as you back up and study each painting, you will see something different. Each piece of my artwork has some part of me which I gratefully want to pass on to you. My work is all original, there are no copies or prints, each one of a kind. When I paint, I think colors, movement and balance, ...
Sepideh Majd - New Series: 2005 Pendulum, gravity and the unknown... a work in progress. Series: 2004 Urban Decay- series: 2003 Random Thoughts.. This is to express, the random acts that have been taking place around us, the uncertain future, the chaos that the world is in. Paintings combine words and images that are sometimes hard to comprehend in a coherent manner.Words not heard, feelings discarded and faces remain in shadows. Composition, color and the unconscious mind are key components of my work. I use all these elements to convey my perception of the relationship between myself and my surroundings. The biggest challenge I encounter when working is to successfully bring to life what I see and feel with my mind's eye. This challenge leads me on a journey towards an infinite process of learning and experimenting with different types of medium and subject matter. I choose my medium according to its success in conveying my vision. Through this process of learning and experimenting, I try to keep my work honest and fresh. ...
