Artists Describing Their Art:
Reiner Makarowski - I don't like the usage of " uploading the importance and the meaning of artworks by words". I don't like it at all ... and I'm committed not to take place in this marketing game. The main influences of my work seem to be the so called classic modernism represented for example by works of Kandinsky, Klee, Braques a.o. Other influences come from many contemporary painters , for example guys who prefer the so called "lyrical expressionism". And of course I'm on the road to find and establish "my style". ...

Chi Harkrader - Artist Statement A canvas, sculpture, or new media presents a stage for me to examine the visually driven attributes of light, perspective, color, form, and movement. Past experiences, present environment, imagination, and experimentation with mixed media allow me to echo my passions, peace, or pleasure. Expression from impressions encountered in urban, rural, or figurative life evolve. Form and color are fashioned from the physical, mental, or spiritual. Red and black may stir energy or passion. Ochre or sienna may prompt an affection of earth or rock. I draw, painting, sculpt or video with paint, found objects or software. Three-dimensional interior or exterior attachments are sometimes explored. My new work may shadow my previous series and motifs, as I strive for that elusive originality. My exploratory nature for diversity keeps me moving in and out of my compound-ongoing series (Action / Onyx / Lyric / Urban / Corolla). Sculpture and video now parallel my inventive journey. Yuming Zhu - I land my brush with the force of a giant rock splashing into the ocean. I am not looking for a beautiful painting, but to express Life itself. Painting is just like a stacking of passions. Painting is a method of striping myself naked and facing the truth of my inner emotion. I invite the viewer to experience through my paintings the joy of being alive right at this moment. I believe I can do lots of things, but painting and poetry are the best beloved channels to express my complicated emotions. Originally from Shanghai, Yuming began studying under the masters at a young age. After his BA from China, Yuming came to the States and graduated from Sonoma State University with his MA in 1991. Working in oils, pastels and ChineseSumi Watercolors, Yumings work is a unique blend of East meets West artistry. It is a style that Yuming refers to as Transism, in reference to the constantly evolving interests, which include observations on modern life, a love of music, and an exploration of his own unique heritage. I paint to achieve balance and harmony. Once I reach that, I will for sure break itaEUR aEURoeMy art is just...
Anne Schwartz - My newest collections, entitled Zoom and A Journey Through Infinity, reflect my artistic exploration of the infinite cosmic history. I am known for pushing my palette of vibrant, and often translucent, colors to the limit, drawing out the vivid hues of nature. My paintings draw upon the earth's energy in a dangerous and imaginative drama. The paintings launch the viewer from under the earth's surface into the solar system and beyond. I explore my own consciousness to create a kind of landscape of energy and emotions. One color plays on the last, changing and twisting to form the contrasts of light and dark. Bright colors burst forth against the dark background, sending the viewer into a dazzling world of exploding stars, swirling gas planets, and our own earth. My collection A Journey to Infinity is oil on canvas. My collection Zoom is mixed media on canvas and paper. I am located in Pacific Palisades, California, and work in oil, collage and other forms of mixed media. Artist Bio Anne Brawer Schwartz has exhibited her mixed media paintings in numerous group shows throughout Los Angeles County. In 2010, her work was published in the coffee table book "Santa Monica," ...
Esmoreit Koetsier - Sculpture for me has been redefined by where life has taken me. When I started in my early twenties, I had no idea that my simple flat pieces of steel were going to lead to mixed-materials and colorful fluid shapes. With each piece I challenge myself and push the envelope just a little more. I look outside of the traditional materials and discover new techniques. What has stayed true is that my work is an experiment with shapes, forms, objects, colors, arrangements, and materials. IaEURtmm inspired by my surroundings and journeys as well as artists working with different medias. ...

Obert Fittje - In addition to the mythology of our culture, we all have certain experiences, expressions and images that have deep personal significance and meaning. These form the foundation of our personal mythology. Some of us have richer and more elaborate personal mythologies than others. Recently I came to the realization that I was mainly painting the images of my own personal mythology. I am self taught as a painter and after painting for eleven years, I consider that to my advantage as the icons of my mythology are rarely something out there in the material world. My paintings lie somewhere between the presence and the absence of an identifiable image. It would have been a waste of time for me to have spent years learning the techniques to make my paintings look realistic because the subjects of my mythology are mostly imaginary. I do not go outside to nature to find the subjects of my paintings, but rather I paint inside using my imagination and the images of my personal mythology. As a retired professional psychologist, I have been trained in the use of projective tests such as the Rorschach Inkblots where the observer is presented with purposely-vague images. The ...
Aditya Dev - I started with Black Ink on paper & Watercolour Medium. I like to paint Figurative, Abstract Forms and Landscape in my styles. My areas of thoughts are very vast which I try to portrait in my paintings and poems. Now I am using acrylic and oil paints on canvas, where I can express my feelings and desire in the forms of colour, which gives me freedom to show my emotions. My sketches are about the feelings and relations, which having no particular shape. Its forms exude lightness that balances its movement on canvas. There is a deliberate move away from the use of substantial colours, pen and ink, layers and textures to further underscore the notion of the space. There is great tranquility about these images which are clearly records of emotions....
Lana Picciano - Musical compositions are everywhere in nature. Most of my inspiration for the artwork colors and compositions are derived from landscapes, their light, color and moodiness. The sounds, the colors, and the the quiet spaces, touch me and stir the energies of my soul. I connect to the spirit that lightens our hearts and feeds the soul. My work is upbeat and joyful. The colors are bright and can be very playful. The art takes on a life of its own and becomes one with the surroundings. Nature has many colors, sounds, rhythms and moods. All of them are inspiring are inspiring to me. The painting is borne from within and finds its life in visual art. I begin with small colorful sketches using pastels, guache, oil pastels, etc. The colors and shapes are pushed around on art paper until they begin feel right. Little by little the colors and shapes are worked and re-worked, pushed and pulled. Once I am satisfied that the identity of the sketch is clear, I translate onto canvas with oil paints. The oil paint medium when applied to the canvas creates additional changes. The oils are worked very thin in layers. As the layers ...
Kimmie Hamm - Everywhere you dream to go can become a part of you and everywhere you have been is a part of you. I am an explorer and optimist at heart, so when I set out to create something one word always comes to mind: Possibilities I feel that through art I can explore the visions in my mind, everything from a small flower or blade of grass to distant worlds filled with whimsy and thoughts of what ifaEUR|aEUR|. Culturally I have two aspects that influence me one being my Native American ancestry and the other my German immigrant ancestry. I am deeply rooted in the beauty and wonderment of nature. My wise grandmother told me if you have strong roots your sprit can fly anywhere and still return home. That saying has always stuck with me and in many ways sparked my imagination. The explorer in me must come from my immigrant ancestry. My great grandfatheraEURtms family traveled to America on a steam ship in 1874. I can imagine them traveling for what must have seemed like an eternity. I often contemplate what they must have been thinking, and try to express the excitement of the unknown and the anticipation ...
