  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Lelia Demello - I have enjoyed the creative process since early childhood. My professional career started in the late 80's in the beautiful Islands of Hawaii. Since that time, over 550 original pieces have been acquired by collecors from around the world. I have had over 11 solo shows and participated in numerous museum exhibitions. I have been commissioned to paint over 65 paintings for private and coorporate clients. I am self taught and continue to learn with each new painting....

Caren Keyser - My expressionist paintings are done using an intuitive process. I begin with the paint and then allow the paint and my subconscious to lead me to the subject matter. Exciting interactions between colors evolve from brushwork, pouring, glazing, spraying and other techniques. I strive to show the essence of the subject rather than paint an overly realistic image. I never know what I will find next in my work. I hope it will be dramatic and emotional. Note that the paintings are not framed. ------------------------------------- I began painting professionally in 1977 after studying art at Florida Atlantic University. There I explored the many styles and techniques available to the acrylic painter. My first photo-realism style piece was created while attending FAU. I knew from that moment that realistic nature scenes would be my style of choice. This remained my theme and style until after 2005. As time has passed my work has changed and become more creative in its processes. Color is still the dominant feature in my work. As my focus has shifted toward expressionism I stored my realism pieces. The originals of many of them are still available for purchase and are included in my inventory here at ...

Branka Moser - Branka Moser, academic painter and sculptor Branka Moser's paintings, it is a strikingly surreal vision from the fluid brush and fertile imagination of an artist whose remarkable ability to translate subjective feelings into universal images, has won her considerable acclaim and numerous awards.

Ed Pennebaker - Ed Pennebaker Red Fern Glass Statement: At a time when many designers/artists leave the crafting of their designs to apprentices, fellow craftsmen, or even a factory style setting, it is rare for the designer to continue as the maker. For me working directly with the glass is a time of zen, a period when I can concentrate on one thing only, the glass, a time to leave the rest of the world behind. I see my work belonging to a contemporary line of the "decorative arts" that developed from the arts and crafts movement where craftsmanship is of the utmost importance. Striving for the "perfect object" is the goal of the craftsman/designer and working directly with the materials at hand provides the greatest satisfaction for me. The most important aspects of glassmaking are light, color and form. I want my work to take advantage of the luminous quality of light. Light coming through the glass reveals texture and pattern and casts colors and shadows so the glass work interacts with its environment and becomes a pure visual feast. The jewel like colors of glass, the individual forms of the pieces and the light from within work as a ...

Gary Chris Christopherson - Abstract sculpture by GChris is what he terms "progressive art" and is mission-driven. Progressive art is art with a purpose and artist as advocate. "Art as advocacy; advocacy as art." The call to artists and people generally is to embrace both art and advocacy, use their synergy, and advance progressive values. Advanced by the art are core progressive values - reducing human vulnerability, maximizing human potential, saving our environment, and living at "peace on and with the earth." Underlying it all is the driving desire to "save the world", as best as we as people can. Toward that end, GChris abstract mobiles and stabiles help drive toward a positive progressive vision of the future. They portray strong driving forces -- the desire for knowledge, spirit and justice. High level thought, being, and positive interrelationships are not ends but new foundations from which progress springs. Progressive art supports the continuous striving for absolute knowledge, absolute spirit and perfected being with full recognition this is an inevitable, unending, inspiring and liberating human enterprise. To achieve the vision, they also help explore threats of vulnerability, conflict, and chaos. The mobiles and stabiles address these threats, glean whatever positives they contain, and advocate major progression...

Reiner Makarowski - I don't like the usage of " uploading the importance and the meaning of artworks by words". I don't like it at all ... and I'm committed not to take place in this marketing game. The main influences of my work seem to be the so called classic modernism represented for example by works of Kandinsky, Klee, Braques a.o. Other influences come from many contemporary painters , for example guys who prefer the so called "lyrical expressionism". And of course I'm on the road to find and establish "my style". ...

Daniel Chiesa - I proudly pesent my first art work. More than 40 oil paintings, different sizes, related with spirituality, mysticism, Egyptian myths and science-fiction. I was born in Montevideo(Uruguay)on January 23, 1956. With Primary and Secondary instruction of religious background (Catholic), I learned how to mingle harmoniously the elementary knowledge with the idea of a Superior Being that protects and governs us, idea that would be further reaffirmed during my adolescence with the university studies of Chemistry and Physics (electronics) that far away from focusing my conscience in the material aspect of the Creation, collaborated with my intellect in the exact understanding that everything that exists in the Universe, was originated from the materialization of Love. ..from the very first moment (Big Bang).. Therefore my learning is purely scientific and intuitive. I have been feeling for two years a very strong internal impulse that motivated myself to express on a canvas my thoughts, my experiences and my message. My present work is the fruit of sensational dreams, where my passion for the Egyptology, the Astronomy and the Science Fiction, helped me to make this collection come true. I found in the oil technique the appropriate vehicle to express myself. ...

Steve Hunsicker - All the components of my work: the centerpiece, box and frame are constructed entirely of wood. The centerpiece of the sculpture is usually a simple form inspired by animal forms, nature or religious and spiritual symbolisms. The centerpiece is carved wood finished with a number of different mediums. Usually I use acrylic paint, stains, powdered metals, coral, nails, stone, copper and iron wire and other materials. Acids are combined with the powdered metals to create various finishes. Often the centerpiece is mounted in a shadow box or on a three dimensional display. The frame is usually finished using powdered metal that is then oxidized. Sometimes I am asked how long does it take for me to create one of my pieces? The answer I give might be a few days, a year or perhaps hours. For me the creation of a work of art is not limited to the time it takes to create the physical piece. The process of creation is a manifestation of a personOs life experience. Often the process is a search, a search for something mystical, sacred, mysterious and personal. The search is what is most important and is continuous. The time from the point ...

Lubomir Korenko - For many years and after all my experiences, I devote myself to expressive and abstract painting. I find inspiration all around me, in the natural landscape, people's behaviours and world events. I like to experiment with different styles of painting but at the moment my preferred medium is watercolour because of its independence. The colours on the paper blend and run together, creating wonderful and often unexpected compositions on their own. I also think the most important thing about my art is drawing. The line is an integral part within the structure of making art. My work always begins with line and continues, adding the texture of drawing to the painting. I always charge my paintings with some energy and I try to present a visualisation of my soul, flow of energy and strong emotions. I always tell a story but I still like to leave the door open for a viewer's imagination, so he can enter the world in my paintings and create his own stories. ...

Reginald Williams - I believe the leaders of all societys past or present use the arts as a means to gauge the society. In other words whatever people want to see or hear it will be materialized. The leaders can also use art as a way to determine what is in the hearts and minds of the society. I strongly believe in art as a powerful means of communication and should be treated as well. Today their are so many who are not enlightened and ignorant of many things and must be made aware, or at least confronted. That is why art must serve a function besides just hanging on the wall collecting dust. In a more literal sense If it doesnt educate, inform, enlighten, sadden, anger,or at least stimulate the mind then it can't be art. Since the dawn of mankind when art was first drawn on cave walls its purpose was to inform and enlighten it was simply the first form of media news and will always continue to be a powerfull form of comunication. Some use art to decorate a wall. I want to use art to do what it was originally intended to do. If I can ...

Mike Wong Joon Fong - i?1/2In many of my works, paint is the art itself rather than the paint that created the art. Thus paint is used like an actor, a prop, and the canvas is used like a stage. Paint has a physical entity of its own. Paint has its own personality. I am here to facilitate and to engineer the process. Each piece of my work is a conversation of that process and each process is a conversation of my life experiences and each conversation is about life manifestation. I think and see life in recursive forms, paradoxical codes within the complex structures. My approach is to minimize them into the simplest possible minimum. It has to be fast, almost instantaneous so that the intention is captured in its possible true sense. Spontaneity is spiritual. It is mysterious, unpredictable and always explorative and experimental. Can spontaneous notion be engineered Spontaneity is almost exclusive to humans. I may be wrong but no all-knowing and higher beings can have this experience.i?1/2 ...
