Artist Statement -




BENJAMIN OPPONG DANQUAH
Producer of collarge art, paintings and wall hangings.
Potraits, pet portraits and house potraits,Designs for textile prints,logos,illustrations and a painter/decorator.

I was born on the 5th of December 1967 in Accra Ghana. Had my O'level at Nsutaman Catholic Secondary School,Ghana. A'level at Wenchi Methodist Secondary School, Ghana. Finally had Diploma of Art at the University of Science and Technology Kumasi, Ghana.
OTHER TRAINING
Entrepreneurial courses and workshops in Accra, Ghana and foundation course in export marketing.Entrepreneurial training workshop on business management.
WORK EXPERIENCE
National Service at Asante Mampong National Service Secretariat on projects.As project person,I produce art works for the secretariat to raise funds.As a teacher I also taught Graphic design (Print Making), Picture making and calabash art at Cambridge Junior Secondary, a Private school in kumasi, Ghana.I also taught some senior secondary school students part-time in picture making.
I am a member of Watford Area Art Forum, Watford African Caribbean Association in Watford Britain. I have done few art workshops in drawing and painting in Watford.
I have my own registered company in Ghana a small scale company
(Ben-Art Enterprise) and also registered as an exporter of handicraft
in Ghana.

Artist Exhibitions




EXHIBITIONS

1997- Participated in Pan-African festival Art Bazaar in cape coast.
1998- Participated Internatinal Handicraft fair in Accra, Ghana organised by Ghana Export promotion council.

Aril 2003- Invited by the Thailand Trade Centre in Accra, Ghana to participate in Bangkok International Gift and Housewares fair in Thailand.

October 2003- Invited by Expo Africa in Ghana to participate in Expo2003 Exhibition in Alexandra Palace London, where I exhibited potraits of the President of Ghana and the king of Asante Kingdom Ghana, collage art, paitings calabash art and wall hangings by my enterprise Ben-Art Enterprise.

November 2003- Invited by the Managing Director of Openet Plc in Harlesden to participate in an exhibition for Black History Month in Harlesden, Britian.

February 2004- Participated in Ethnic Exhibitions Jewellerr an Handicraft fair organised by Ethnic Exhibition in Earls Court, London.
Otober 2004 had a solo exhibition at Watford Girls Grammar school organised by the chairman of Watford Area Art Forum during the Black history month.

2006- Solo exhibiton at The Town Hall Watford Council.

2008/2009- Participated in Watford Area Arts Forum exhibition and solo exhibition at The Newton Price Centre Watford

BENJAMIN OPPONG DANQUAH



Ghanaian artist Benjamin Oppong Danquah, who has recently
joined the Watford Area Art Forum,has been given the opportunity
to fulfill his ambition to put on-one man show in Watford.Thanks
to Lyn Prodger who due to late cancillation from a previous
scheduled artist has offered Benjamin the slot and also
well-needed studio space to finish his work in time to exhibit
at Watford Grammar School for Girls. The exhibition opens to
the public on 12th October to 22 October,2004. Pre-view 13th,
October from 7 to 9PM.
