Artist Statement -
Jane Sussmilch Artist Profile
Originally from England I moved to New Zealand in 1993. In the year 2000 I gained a Certificate in Visual arts and continued on to complete a Bachelor in Visual Arts. After spending several years working as a full time artist I returned to full time study and acquired a Graphics and Multimedia Diploma. I have been working as an artist since completing my studies and have exhibited regularly in Nelson and around New Zealand.
I usually prefer to work with a square format and mainly work with acrylics but I also work with other mediums such as Oil, Watercolour and Digital Media.
Recently I had another solo exhibition “Thinking inside the Square†this exhibition includes a series of works that produce a feathered effect which have been developed from techniques I have been working on for a few years now. The use of a special gloss medium keeps the acrylic colour vibrant and fresh.
