Artist Statement - Nora Franko

Thank you for the interest My paintings feature abstract landscape
including flowers, trees and just pure forms inspired by the manifestation of Nature.
My basic approach is intuitive and generally begins with a partially developed idea of direction by drawing the key idea onto the canvas. As I build up and sculpt the layers of textural medium with my hands and tools, I sense this organic connection develop between me and my painting. My creative process is an enlightened path, strongly suggestive and the composition develops as the process takes over.

To paint is to speak without words, to express myself without restrictions, furthermore most importantly to connect with our Creator. The need and desire for exploration I feel is an important part of my growth as an artist. It always surprised and amazed me how I observe spaces and objects differently and evaluate what is in front of me with an artistic sensibility.

My focus is on combinations of subtle layered, textured surfaces, sometimes using strong geometric shapes and abstract marks with emphasis on color relationships and composition. My work addresses proportion and balance with repeated gestures. My basic approach begins with a partially developed idea of direction by drawing, painting and squeezing up oil paint directly from the tube. Throughout the process the work is always changing with both additive and subtractive techniques to cover up or expose previous layers of actions and marks. The compositions are brought about by structure and meaning to color. This process results in works of rich surfaces and aesthetic arrangement.
I truly enjoy painting by using oil and supplementary mediums however, lately I have been fascinated the beautiful flow of acrylic paint. All pieces are unique and one of a kind.
I will continue to follow and honor my wonderful gift given by our Graceful God
