Artwork Description:
Pink Flamingos. Handpainted on a bone china plaque. First sketched, then painted and fired five times in my own kiln at about 820 degrees Fahrenheit. This enables the metallic oxide paints, mixed with aniseed oil, to sink deep into the glaze. This results in a rich glossy finish. This 7 in x 5 in plaque is presented in this traditional gold frame and slip 11in x 8 in I learned these skills as an apprentice ceramic artist at the famous Royal Worcester Porcelain Company. I left to become a freelance painter in 1980. It has been a rollercoaster ride, but I wouldn’t swap it for the world You should be able to see from my work how much I enjoy it
