Artwork Description:
Made an error in title.. will not correct now.. since have to re-do all.. so with next upload.. or when I am not as fatigued.. I will correct. Please excuse that.. and other typos I overlooked..--------------
Did not create many pastels in the past.. This canvas was stacked with my other unfinished.. for at least 2 years.. Had started with a light wash of whites and blues and just a touch of light 'runs' of
reds.. to get feel of color to 'tickle' my creative vein.. Didn't happen then.. I looked at it a couple of times.. and triggered land/water/distance/mood
... But still.. was not ready.. Two days ago.. it 'hit'..
pastel.. naey.. not patient enough.. so.. yesterday I just could not get it out of my mind---- was out
with my great artist core friends Spirited, free, human loving and 'knowing' Rickie Dickerson,(shows in her great art pieces.. have to see!! also at absolutearts) and Leo Evans, unpredictable creative spirit.. great works!! (one million hits in half a year..
on absolute)... We had not seen each other- Rickie
moved to Colorado - and connecting again was inspiring- so.. very likely, because of the sharing, etc. amongst us, I was even more drawn , to get back to this piece.. Soon as I returned back to the
house-- I grabbed the canvas.. locked myself in the petit chambre upstairs- and stayed there for 5 hours.. canvas on bed.. pastels all around me.. totally imerged in this piece... I do HAVE to
mention, that the pastels collection is a gift from BLANCHE PHILLIPS +.. THE pastel artist for me.. I
admired her sensitivity and skill for years and loved her as a person.. She handed them over to me( diagnosed with Parkinsons)- to continue what she had inspired me with.. her touch and mine she said- (and she knew, I am intense.. she was a fan of my works too.. proud of that ;-) ).. Touched and 'shaken'.. humbled-- grateful and with all these emotions, special.. doubt set in... I let her know, I would not be able ,to fill her shoes.. She seemed so sure and just smiled her way.. "'they'd fit 'me' better .. Just start and do my way and yours-- and you know.. I really feel.. pastels are very 'sensuous'
to touch.. and smooth... gosh.. she is right.. the
more I work.. the more I discover their reaction to
my touch.. in mix.. layering.. intensive, or sensitive touch .. lines ... and ohh.. these hues.. the merging... I immensely enjoy 'Blanches'... and learn by looking at her touch.. Did some smaller ones in Germany
on trip.. and used water with them.. which I enjoyed also. On my portfolio.. And well.. this piece.. see
where it will lead me.. I 'know'.. she was 'there'.. still is...
