Artwork Description:
I thought of the orange as a metaphor for the Earth. A geologist once told me that if I ran my fingers over the surface of an Earth the size of an orange that I would not even feel the Himalayas. So, I measured the difference between the lowest and highest peaks of roughness on this orange and it measured a 120 mile difference if the orange were the size of the Earth. So, this orange is about 16 times rougher in surface modulation that the true planet Earth. Amazing, reallyThis is my first drawing ever using the combination of colored pencils with bristol paper. In this case I used a Strathmore Windpower 100 lb smooth Bristol paper. The original drawing is 8 x 10.
