Giovanna Micciche - Pareidolia is the perception of apparently significant patterns or recognizable images, especially faces, in random or accidental arrangements of shapes and lines. As a double major in Art and Elementary education I am very drawn to children book illustration. Using oil on canvas, I work from images of people, and begin to draw blindly continuous outlines onto a canvas. My process then turns to the technique of color-blocking, this helps to create depth in the forms. As an artist I am interested in exploring different styles, and use this as a tool in my work to express different emotions....

I like to paint scenes that tell stories of adventure and action, re-capturing the excitement of exploring new places when one was a child - forests, mountains, marine coastlines and rivers.
