  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Vivian Linder - My work is a gesture attempting to capture the feeling of oneness in everything that exists. In my paintings different cultural traditions are blended and rearranged; the result is a fusion of frontiers and borders. Another focus has been powerful woman in tribal societies where nobody was considered "an obscure object of desire" I try to go back in history to arrive to that moment when the first petroglyphs were created. In this age of numerous technological ways of sending messages, I try to return to the primordial ancient images, which were buried with the advent of industrialization. Vivian Linder...

Rita Gesinger - I am driven with a passion for visually expressing what is happening in and around my life, finding the significance within the commonplace. Painting with simple elegance and warmth, my intent is to create works of art that express the beauty, the eternal within daily scenes. I strive to expand the viewer's vision, their awareness and their experience of the magic within life. Viewers find themselves intrigued and enchanted. They are taken on an artistic journey within the world I have created. Whether a landscape, still life or portrait-like image, in action or contemplation, the narrative is always in my art. Starting with just one idea, the painting begins to take over. A dialog begins with the characters and spaces they occupy with a general agreement between all as to what will happen next. The figures in my paintings and the negatives that surround them arrange themselves. Although my subject matter primarily centers around natural forms, I transcend the ordinary by interpreting these elements through rich and varied media, including: oil, watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil, clay and wood. The introduction to oil bar has been a major influence on me and my work. The possibilities of using oil ...

Ashley Hancock - "Painting is just another way of keeping a diary," said Pablo Picasso. The canvas is my journal in which I paint my thoughts on life and my environment, ideas, emotions, and observation of others and myself. I am not interested in recreating what the human eye can see just by "looking." I strive to bring forth both my subconscious and conscious emotions and my perceptions in a visual form, primarily through oil painting. ...

Dorothy Nuckolls - I am a self taught artist. I have been painting for about 30 years. My love of art began as a child. The awesome beauty of nature and the magic of color always intrigued me. To reproduce God's art; wheather it be outdoor sences, or portairts; has always been a goal for me. I started doing portairts in 2002 and realize that, that was what I really loved to do.Now I specialize mostly in portairts. I hope you enjoy my collection as much as I enjoyed painting it. Dorothy Nuckolls...

Aurelio Zerla - Aurelio Zerla has been painting for many years. He learned oil painting from his art teacher in middle school in his native Italy, in beautiful medieval Spoleto. In his paintings he expresses his love for color mainly through depictions of scenes from Italy, fantasy dreamy landscapes and some abstract works. His inspiration ranges from the Italian renaissance to Impressionism, to modern Italian art....

Suzanne Gegna - I AM INTERESTED IN THE WORLD WITHIN AND THE PASSAGEWAY FROM INNER TO OUTER AS WELL AS OUTER TO INNER. I LOVE THE USE OF COLOR AND FORM IN ABSTRACT ART AND IT FREES ME AND I HOPE THE VIEWER TO FIND A PERSONAL CONNECTION WITH THE FINISHED ARTWORK. I ALSO USE WHIMSY TO CONVEY A CONCEPT AND HOPE TO REMIND THE OBSERVER THAT WHAT WE SEE IN THE MOST LITERAL SENSE IS PERHAPS NOT ALL THAT IS REAL. OFTEN I BELIEVE SIMPLICITY IS THE BEST WAY TO EXPRESS COMPLEXITY.... ...
