Artwork Description:

As the title already suggests, the artist reflects with this work on the visible and invisible dimensions of life. Apart from the figurative landscape on the left panel, all other areas happen to be more abstract. Colors and composition in main give way to associations about things that are beyond human understanding, particularly when it comes to the divine. According to the artist himself, the left panel deals with the mix of life's experiences; as it covers senses of satisfaction and of fullness as well as of struggle or frustration. The theme of the landscape with the weed-grown path on the foreground is like a visual metaphor for the soulish and spiritual conflicts that afflict man. Stil the main emphasis lies on the evocation of wideness and relief through the tangible presence of heavenly dimensions, even if these lay ahead of us, they guide us through life cursed as it appears. The left panel could be named: 'Roux-Miroir' (which is the name of the Belgian village nearby the painted site area, which lays in fact between the villages 'Roux-Miroir' and 'Jodoigne'). The right panel brings in a dynamic contrast, as it shows forth a cosmic happening of the divine. Which is the reason that it shows no direct linkage towards the recognizable earthly or human, as this is also emphasized in the choice of the diphtych-format itself (its 'caesura' is a clear dividing of spheres).
