after the rains - 9 impressions of the light in the jungle after the monsoon has gone by / borneo series: my work is inexorably conditioned by my travels. the fact that i now live on the island of borneo somehow helped shape the thoughts that occupied my mind while i was completing and setting aside the paintings in this cycle. the beginning stages of each cycle � the first series � is always more representational than i would care it to be. the rain especially struck me as something I wanted to capture.
