Artwork Description:

Dream State is an ongoing series that extends past my other architectural study series Secret Life of Places in such that the focus is not only on the physical spaces, but the connection that these spaces have to memory. The paintings of places in this series juxtapose recognizable structures with apparitions, scrap ephemera, personal items, and other images meant to conjure the nostalgic feeling of a memory almost lost to time. At the forefront of this series is the large-scale painting Afterimage. Standing and 4ft by 4ft, it overwhelms you with pieces of a visual puzzle that reveal a mysterious narrative. This piece was exhibited at the Transcending Reality show based on dream interpretation at the Downriver Council For the Arts March-April 2023.
