This portrait depicts Leah in surreal surroundings, in that all the insects and butterflys are day flying species and yet the portait is made at night. The butterflys come to Leah from the light and depart from her into the night, eventually appearing in the heavens as stars. The cornflowers represent delicacy. The design of the painting is triangular to empahsise the serene nature of the content.
