Artwork Description:
The artwork was inspired by the painting The Lovers by Rene Magritte. The artwork is a representation of a couple lying on a rock with the back to each other looking at the viewer. Both are wearing over their heads a sheer white sheet stretched over their faces and bound together, like a veil of the matrimony. The woman is wearing a red dress:a symbol of passion, lust, and the man is dressed simply in a white shirt and black pants. The painting shows a lovers couple hidden beneath a mask, and beyond, the sky is tumultuous, a show of the turmoil within these two reluctant concubines souls. The composition is realized through a combination of modern, abstract, and surrealist styles. The brush strokes and the tracks left by the palette knife display a picture of the adventurous and awkward subject. The reluctance, uncertainty is visible in the way they sit back to back, their hidden expressions by the white sheet veil show no emotions but conveys sentiments like guilt, secrecy, hidden love, and hope.
