A man's dream depends on his soul's desire to have a pleasent one. This painting, like some others, is a guide through a dream. The blue cat represents one's soul, where at first it is in darkness with a pharaoh, who symbolises a nightmare, he is the lord of darkness. The cat wants get a shining bird. The bird is bright, colourful and heavenly, and symbolises a heavenly dream. The cat's need to get away from the pharaoh and get the bird, brings us into the theme that only strong will can let you get a good dream, without it, all there is, is darkness, because darkness is the base of everything. There is also another lead coming from this painting. the bird has an orb under its wing, and you can make out a fish inside the orb. The bird represents not only the pleasant side of a dream, but also the day. The fish, which also looks like the moon, represents night. In the painting, day overpowers the night, but you can't have one thing without the other.
