  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Royane Caldwell - Artist Statement At present, I am almost completely absorbed in visual arts. My academic education consists of western and non-western art, philosophy, music, anatomy, physiology and holistic medicine. I am extremely interested in exploring the relationship between dreams and the collective unconscious and their intuitive reflection expressed in my art. Both my paintings and photography have been shown in a number of venues over the past few years, and are in private as well as corporate collections in Canada and the United States. My search for meaning and my attempts to illustrate contemporary mythology are based on a central certainty of stored remembrances, genetic memories that resonate at our deepest levels. I use organic forms, anatomical structures, icons, and symbolism to draw obscure truths. Art to me is a conduit, crossing the boundaries of seen and unseen, feeling and memory. ...

Marilyn Nosewicz - Photography, and Painting are like Magic, Joy , My Birthday, and Christmas all wrapped into one good feeling. I wait for my image to appear in my darkroom, the world stops for that time. I truely live in the moment. Finally I see my images appear before my eyes like magic. I work in Photography Silver Gelatin Black and White primarily and Color Photography. My Painting degree is from Syracuse University. My Silver Gelatin Black and White Photography work is hand printed in the darkroom. I also work in Color Photography, and now also Digital. All my materials are archival. All work is signed and dated. Please Sign my mailing list, or my Guest book, I would like to hear from you. Thank you for looking at my work. ...

Gina Shelley - Art gives the opportunity to capture a moment in time and embrace it for eternity. Drawing imparticular has allowed me to share with others the private second that I have witnessed. I find the human element to be crucial in my drawings, because it permits me to project the beauty that God has created and that is inside all of us. ...

Nancy Bechtol - Artists explore and give the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. I visualize and think with keen beliefs and insights. Reflection of human and societal concerns which cross emotional boundaries-- communicating that which is unspoken. My traditional art foundations of drawing, painting and printmaking, evolved into video, digital photography and experimental media. I use digital photography and imaging to envision the concepts originating from the creative pulse. An individual artist explores and gives the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. Surendra Jones - HAND CRAFTED MONOCHROME PRINTS by SURENDRA For over 25 years Surendra has been exploring the art of meditation, spending a good deal of this time in India. He feels that this has shaped his work, helping him to look for something essential in the fleeting changes of the surfaces we constantly encounter. The other important influence has been his connection with Japan and his love of simplicity in Japanese art and craft. Primarily, he wants only to convey the sense of wonder, richness and beauty in the mundane details that we often overlook everyday . A former associate of the Royal Photographic Society, Surendra has also taught photography at junior high school. He has exhibited his work in Pune, India, Tokyo, Japan and Exeter, UK. He favours a short telephoto lens and often works very close to his subject. He likes to take his time, often using a medium and, occasionally, a large format camera as well as 35mm. He prefers natural light and rarely uses a flash, even for indoor portraits or figure studies. Usually he works outdoors, focusing on details of form and texture only occasionally exploring broad vistas. He works only in black and white, sometimes introducing colour ...

    C. A. Hoffman - For me, my artwork is very personal. It reflects a lot about how I am feeling at any given time and place. I feel that art has to be on this personal level to completely capture how the artist is feeling daily, or trying to convey a certain thought or emotion at that particular moment. We all, at one time or another try to express our thoughts or ideas, whether it is to others or just to ourselves, by words, actions, ideas or pictures. If we are sucessful in this attempt, I think it shows through in our everyday work or art. I believe that one is either born to create art naturally or by learning. For me, I feel that I was born with this wonderful gift, and I try to improve upon it every day. In my photos and art, I hope to show how everyday objects and nature can capture our imaginations and feelings. Sometimes I work with an image to improve it, inhance it, or just to fuel the imagination. I truly hope this shows in all of my art. ...
