Nancy Bechtol - Artists explore and give the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. I visualize and think with keen beliefs and insights. Reflection of human and societal concerns which cross emotional boundaries-- communicating that which is unspoken. My traditional art foundations of drawing, painting and printmaking, evolved into video, digital photography and experimental media. I use digital photography and imaging to envision the concepts originating from the creative pulse. An individual artist explores and gives the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. Siddhartha Tawadey - Artist Statement I am a visual artist and create from my various references that I find in art; whether it be the surrealist qualities of the Paintings of Rene Magritte or Salvador Dali, to the abstract expressionism of Rothko and Mondrian to the sheer Beauty of a Monet and Seurat or the Striking and involved imagery of Van Gogh. I continuously try and break with convention, making images that are self-consciously allusive, and non referential. As Artists in the radical art movements of Cubism, Futurism, and Constructivism, twentieth-century, I have also experimented with vantage points, framing, and lighting, to achieve the fragmentation of Picasso or the complex intersecting planes of Lissitsky. I have applied techniques borrowed from both filmmakers and scientists, including the use of negative prints, camera-less photograms, close-ups, lens distortions, and montage. I work abstractly and non-linearly D however, my designs do have trends over time, usually with the goal of delaying recognition so a photograph may better dialogue with its viewer, free of labels. Recent techniques have included seeing without gravity, designing in soft focus, and using shapes to continue the photograph beyond the physical frame. My photographs reflect a more prosaic approach ...
Shifra Levyathan - I am a photographer. However, my camera is my painting brush and the photograph is my canvas:it is the starting point for my digital work. I add or distract from the initial photograph, be it nature or taken in a bustling city. Tempering with colors and shapes, changing and reshaping or creating a new scene, feels like creating a new world, the one that lives only in my imagination. ...
Royane Caldwell - Artist Statement At present, I am almost completely absorbed in visual arts. My academic education consists of western and non-western art, philosophy, music, anatomy, physiology and holistic medicine. I am extremely interested in exploring the relationship between dreams and the collective unconscious and their intuitive reflection expressed in my art. Both my paintings and photography have been shown in a number of venues over the past few years, and are in private as well as corporate collections in Canada and the United States. My search for meaning and my attempts to illustrate contemporary mythology are based on a central certainty of stored remembrances, genetic memories that resonate at our deepest levels. I use organic forms, anatomical structures, icons, and symbolism to draw obscure truths. Art to me is a conduit, crossing the boundaries of seen and unseen, feeling and memory. ...
Micha Nussinov - Nussinov's Statement Oct 2012 Drifting, being transient, in between various states of body/mind, like when we travel physically and with our imagination, as in a 'waking dream'. My work represents a world of ambiguity and illusion, of recognized and abstracted scenes embedded as a tapestry of matter, illustrating different relationships. Somewhere in the process of creating artworks these worlds are mixed in an harmonious and conflicting manner, representing the contradiction and collision between languages and landscapes. At all times the viewer is challenged to unfold the mystery, to explore and discover. The works of art are created not through a planned process but rather the starting point is an impulse, a visual or musical trigger. These signals lure the me into the unknown territories where my intuition and inner vision leads to spontaneous discoveries. As a teenager my box camera was an excuse to drift away from trouble, to capture in a photo something, that was at the same time ambiguous and exciting. As a cinematographer/ director of documentaries from1976 to1980 I was acknowledged as an acute observer of people and an highly experimental filmmaker. I have been working in various fields of the arts, consistently for the ...
Claudia Nierman - Some words about my work: The images I produce are deliberately enigmatic and multi-layered. They invite the viewer to engage in the process of storytelling whereby dreaming and living are woven together as a tapestry. I find the sources for my work in the urban environment: window displays, torn posters, graffiti, broken architecture. In short, the remains of man. These objects and situations are eventually transformed by rain, sun, reflections, and shadows, as well as additions made by the passerby. Shaped by the forces of chance, these ephemeral visions are captured on film (and now also in bits and bites) and used as raw material that merge one into another forming a new identity. The result? On one hand, a strange amalgam of my preoccupation with time and memory, and on the other, the way in which the deliberate manipulaton through photographic images can give us insight into our personal and collective struggles. Technical information: I usually work in three different formats: 25 cm x 30 cm and 32 cm x 45 cm printed on cibachrome paper; and a large format of 57 cm x 80 cm, digitilizing the final image and printing it on canvas. (Since this latter ...
