This individual work is part of the artist’s VEIL OF VERONICA series and was created within THE OPEN STUDIO IN PRINTMAKING. The narrative is based on Christ s execution on Good Friday. On His way to Calvary, Christ stopped in front of a woman named Veronica. She stepped in front of Christ and washed the blood and dirt from His face with her veil. According to Early Christian legend, an exact facial imprint of Jesus was transferred onto her cloth. THE ETCHING PORTION OF THIS ARTWORK WAS EXECUTED ON A ZINC-PLATESEVERAL NITRIC ACID BATHS WERE EMPLOYED TO OBTAIL FINAL RESULT. Media include Silk screen inkoil-base etching ink with silver metallic pigmentsand Stonehenge brand printmaking papernow made in USAcolor-Stone Gray.
