Artwork Description:
Asilomar, a beach and resort area South of Monterrey is famed for its local color and spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. Between the quaint houses and tide pools, an obscure, long silent railroad track traces the now historical path from fishing marina to cannery. As a boy, a penny on this track would magically flatten out to the size of a quarter with the coming and going of a train engine. Asilomar is a watercolor on Arches paper with traditional brush handling in the foreground and airbrush effects in the sky. The image is also available in limited edition giclee prints.
