Artwork Description:
Painted with the texts of Genesis 1-2:7, Deut 6:4 and Psalm 8 Gold frame) for each and every stroke, using the original Hebrew letters. The glory of the sunsets over this field in Water Mill, NY, comforted and inspired me as I would pass by this field daily, for about a month during a difficult time as this art movement and ministry was just beginning. It was both a time of testing and learning and learning to walk closer to the Lord while still being a part of the world at large.
The painting this image is based upon was first shown in a juried show at St. Catherine's Gallery at Villa Maria (a Catholic convent) not more than a mile from the site of the painting.
This painting (and print) is "framed" by Psalm 8, which begins, "O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens." Also, given my own spiritual quest and journey at the time, fittingly the psalmist asks, "What is man, that thou art mindful of him?" Prints available.
