Artwork Description:

The full title is, AN OPENING IN TIME, THE MNAJDR TEMPLE IN MALTA, FIRST EDITION. Media is oil based, French ink on RivesBFK white paper with colored mulberry bark papers from Thailand in the color overlay process. The work was hand printed and published by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and allows the collector personal choice in mat selection and framing. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping carton and securely packed with bubble wrap. The Absolute Arts Dot Com price includes all handling costs, shipment supplies, and the coast of the shipment box. Mailing costs are added. This etched diptych, or etching made with two zinc plates, shows the Stone Age Era Temple in Malta, named The Mnajdra, pronounced Mi NAJ drah. It is my 34th image executed for my SACRED SPACES AND MYSTERIOUS PLACES series, begun in 2009. Other places in this series includes sites from Petra, Stonehenge, Machu Picchu, Giza, and Paris. This holy place on the island of Malta is estimated to be the oldest surviving spiritual place on earth. It was a worship and ritual space for the ancient and primordial Mother Goddess. I used a 2010 photograph taken by a friend on which to base my original drawings for this etching. FOUR EDITIONS of only EIGHT PRINTS each will be published. The 1st and 2nd are completed, but the 3rd and 4th editions will remain unexecuted until the Fall and Winter of 2018. This delay has to do with the placement of certain stars in this solar system, and where they will be in 2018. ETCHING TECHNIQUES employed were Drypoint, Intaglio, Aquatint and Chine colle, or Chinese Pasting from the French. My own blend of Charbonnel brand etching inks will be used. This work required Two zinc plates to print one image on paper. . . in this case, RivesBFK cream colored paper. Each plate measures 7 inches high by 5 inches wide, or 18 cm x 13 cm,SE with a small space of separation at the horizontal mid-point. The print measures 11.2 inches high by 15 inches wide.
