Artwork Description:
This FIRST EDITION etching, executed in oil based French ink on American Masters cream colored paper, is done in violet inks. Like most of my etchings, the image was drawn onto a metal zinc plate using an etching needle. The plate surface was first coated with a liquid ground of mineral spirits and beeswax, and after I produce the lines in this ground, I place the plate into a bath of Nitric acid. The exposed areas of the plate then etch into the surface. After removing the ground with turpentine, I clean and ink the plate, and then begin to print my edition. This image was inspired by a 1953 black and white photograph of my sister and me, taken in Camden, New Jersey on Halloween. The print image measures 8 inches high by 6 inches wide, or 20.3 cm by 15.2 cm. The print is about 15 inches x 11 inches. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and allows the collector personal choice in matt selection and framing. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping carton and securely packed with bubble wrap. The Absolute Arts Dot Com price includes all handling costs, shipment supplies, and the coast of the shipment box. Mailing costs are added. In five years, I intend to print and publish the remaining editions. This is because of astrological changes which will have taken place.
