Artwork Description:
The airy beauty of a ship is created out of musical instruments, carried on sails of sheet music. Using the negative space between the wave form and the deck (made from a fiddle) to describe the keel shape, the details of the boat include tin whistles for masts and sheet music of the Irish jig "The Ship in Full Sail" for sails. In the recesses of the traditional weighty plinth are lines from Robert N. Rose's poem "The Song of a Ship", picked out in gold.
