a portrait of a boy with a plant. the boy is my nephew when he is about 6 years old. i painted him at the time when he is the only boy in the family. I compared him to a struggling plant anthurium whose roots dug deep into charcoal in the the plastic container, he is fragile and sickly but if cared with love and proper guidance, he would grow into continuing the 3rd generation of our family.
