Harris Gulko - Rather than giving technical details concerning my paintings, I take the liberty to convey, in fewer than 150 words, the philosophy of life that influences all my paintings. My artwork cuts across artistic barriers, displaying many themes landscapes, seascapes, cloud formations, abstracts, childhood games, religious compositions and more. If there is one constant in my work, it is my inconsistency When I am at my easel I try to create on canvas what I am seeing. But often I go off on a tangent, and what ends up often bears little resemblance to what I was attempting to paint. My formula for success consists of ambition, drive, hard work, effort, energy, fear of failure, patience, perspiration and persistence. Life and love are made of time. Privileged those who find love in time. Wise those who express love, before life runs out of time....

Austen Pinkerton - Austen Pinkerton If I turn my mind to it very quickly I can come up with several ideas for works aEUR|paintings, drawings, or sculptures. Sometimes ideas come to me when I least expect it, or when my mind is on other things. Ideas can be related to my current experiences, or to my feelings about things that are happening to me in my life at that particular time. Alternatively they can be related to a current interest, or something that occupies my attention at that moment, and my ideas and feelings about which Id like to share with others. Ruth Zachary - My goal is to create striking images that touch the viewer emotionally. I try to capture the essence of a subject or scene, so that the viewer reacts with an immediate recognition, and immediate click of Yes. I depend upon composition, simplicity, shape and contrast, as well as my own aesthetic sense and emotional responses. I love creating art through photography. For me it is an opportunity for self-expression, a means of capturing a moment in time and creating beauty, as well as am important means of communication. My education includes a Masters in Social Work and a BA in English Literature. I have done formal study in drawing and pastel, but my photographic study has been informal and self-taught. Since 1980, I have been a frequent visitor to Monhegan Island, 12 miles off the coast of Maine, a remote lobstering island with a summer artists colony. On Monhegan, I became friends with a group of painters and photographers. I applied what I learned from them to my own work. Those I am most grateful to include Frances Kornbluth, Leo Brooks, Robin Young, Judi Wagner, Josie Vargas and Nancy Stanich. I show my art summers on Monhegan Island ...

Valerie Leri - A strong element throughout my work, is light - both physical and spiritual - through a combination of realism and abstract. My mission is to capture a sense of spontaneity, tranquility, andor movement and energy through the interaction of colors and shapes. I paint with acrylics. Some of my work is interwoven with elements from nature such as bark, sand, stones, shells creating a partiuclar mood and giving the painting three dimensions. I work more by feeling than technique, letting the painting in a sense create iself with myself as a conduit to the visual message, thus the end result is more about flow than form. To a limited extent I strive for effect but most often my efforts are toward lifting the veils of illusion to reveal the truth. There is no right way to interpret my art. All of my work is inspired by the need to create exhilaration, inner joy and peace, both for myself and the view. Ultimately my art is an invitation to dream....

As a Painter and Graphic DesignerIllustrator, art is huge part of my life. Its a great feeling to have the ability to draw and paint what my eye can see. As an observer, I love to sketch in my A5 pads and photograph most subject matter transferring the visual information onto paper, canvas, clay or the computer. I use digital photographic equipment only as a support for my work. I draw and paint virtually everything but my passion lies with the human body. I use dry and wet medium such as graphite pencil, chalk pastel, charcoal, ink, gouache and oil paints. I enjoy experimenting with my subject. I also use the apple computer for retouching and airbrushing technique. As an artist, I feel the need to incorporate the classic concepts of the human figure from the Ancient Greek and Italian Renaissance periods, with the more message-oriented elements of today's art. My belief in the beauty and power of the raw human form is exquisitely celebrated in the classical forms of sculpture. The modern themes I treat in my art include feminism; contemporary ideas of spirituality and love; and the all consuming presence time plays in our fast-paced American lives.
