Artists Describing Their Art:
Jerry Di Falco - Photography inspires my art and acts as a vital element in my etchings. The images I employ originate from my own photographs, as well as from the images I find from my research into the digital archives of universities, historical societies, libraries, and museums. Upon locating a documented scene I wish to etch, my first step involves the execution of two to five original drawings of the photograph. My collaboration between photography and printmaking allows me the independence to integrate my personal interpretations into the scene. Moreover, I create bridges between the physical and metaphysical visual realities in the same way that a camera intersects with human creativity . . . the nexus between the mechanical and the cerebral art tools. Art unveils everything that we mask behind our belief systems conversely, I strive in my creations to clarify those phenomena we overlook as a result of our egocentric assumptions. Ironically enough, I blame this failure to notice things, a process I label, the phenomenology of connectedness, on todayaEURtms very infatuation with and addiction to the new communicational technologies of social media. My artworks therefore become like windows through which to examine the mysteries of aEURoeeveryday consciousnessaEUR. In fact, my use of ...
Wendy Lippincott - Complex allegories dominate the many themes that pervade Ms. Lippincott's paintings. She prefers incorporating science into her art, consistent with her background in electrical engineering, but often gets waylaid with mythological and historical visions. Her paintings are currently only available for licensing. She hopes to have prints available soon. ...
Nancy Bechtol - Artists explore and give the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. I visualize and think with keen beliefs and insights. Reflection of human and societal concerns which cross emotional boundaries-- communicating that which is unspoken. My traditional art foundations of drawing, painting and printmaking, evolved into video, digital photography and experimental media. Rickie Dickerson - I work from the core, I smear my guts on the canvas, all the pain and confusion...joy, lust and anger...right before your very eyes. I have to paint, I have no choice. My mentor, Luise "Mignon" Andersen, introduced me to acrylic paint and threw me deeper into the river of creativity. Everything I do is just to keep me from drowning... As for the photography, that's compulsive as well....
Lynda Lehmann - I have participated in numerous juried shows and had solo shows of my paintings. Ive sold my photography and digital art online, in galleries and other real-time venues, although I am currently marketing my work primarily online. My stock art sells well and Ive sold at least 2400 images in that venue. Life events had steered me away from painting but I am jumping back into that part of my process and hope to have new paintings online within the next few months. OTHER STUFF My painting Bibliophiles Dream has been featured on the cover of the Insights Journal of Austin Seminary. My paining Damariscotta Dream has been used for the cover of Chuck Sweetmans poetry chapbook published by Dream Horse Press. My image Enchanted Forest was used by the Sierra Club in their online feature Daily Ray of Hope. The Yellow Door has been published in Long Islands Canvas Magazine. I was a featured artist at Imagekind in July and have been featured from time to time on my other sites as well. February 1 - 28, 2009 - Metrimorphic III featuring new abstract paintings combining biomorphic and geometric elements, Harborfields Library, Greenlawn, NY. Due to time constraints I will ...
Lou Posner - Dear Friends, The Posner Covid-19 sale of the past year has closed. To those who took advantage of the price breaks during the sale, congratulations on pocketing a tidy sum. Since I have not updated my price list here in well over a decade I thought I would take this end-of-the-year opportunity to do so. Updating the prices is a tedious and time-consuming process. I have to research current trends in the national and worldwide art market, examine auction results, research what art critics are saying about what is being shown, what the art magazines are writing about, what the vector and availability of art supplies is, etc. in order to arrive at fair market prices for my works. I feel glad for those patrons of mine who have enjoyed my work in their homes and workplaces over the years while they have seen a healthy increase in the market value of the work. I sold my first painting over 50 years ago for 25. Today, although the prices are higher, the bargains are still there, backed up by 50 years of experience at the easel. As you know buying here on absolutearts cuts out ...

Terri Higgins - The deep ache that replaced the pleasure you used to have, the words someone said that you keep turning over and over in your head, the void inside that nothing seems to fill; these are some of the subjects I paint about. Location: Washington, DC Check out my website and blog:
Marc Crisafulli - Born and raised in suburban Maryland, I enjoy the freedom my computer allows me to take freelance work from all over the country. In 1992 I was offered a position on the original "Ren & Stimpy Show" at Spumco in Los Angeles. Other animation studios I've worked for have included Cartoon Network, Klasky Csupo, and Walt Disney TV Animation. I like the speed and precision programs like Adobe Photoshop can offer me, but that hasn't stopped me from working with traditional materials on a regular basis, including brush and ink, watercolor, colored pencils, and gouache. For many years I've been developing several original concepts and characters for a variety of venues and mediums. I did a great deal of illustration for the book Rough Draft: Pop Culture the Way It Almost Was...some examples of the Dr. Seuss work I did for the book can be found at the link below. Other illustration clients include The New York Press and several record covers for The Kung Fu Monkeys. While classic Hollywood cartoons have greatly influenced both my style and sensibilities, I readily admit to also being fascinated (and greatly inspired by) most popular culture, human behavior, children, ...
Ross Hendrick - Ross Hendrick is an artist who has drawn comic strips for several of the UKs most famous publications such as The Beano and Viz. His work often has a satirical edge, usually with a dark sense of humour. He creates cartoon paintings which have a resemblance to the work of Beryl Cook, albeit a more gritty modern day version. He works with acrylic, marker pens, spray paint and digitally. ...
Jack Hill - All of my sculptural work is bronze, cast in the "lost wax" technique. Besides sculpting the original work, I am hands on with all the phases of the casting process, including the molds, waxes, metal, and application of the patinas. My foundry experience allows me to ensure the quality and integrity of each idea, from inspiration to final presentation. The ideas are born from observation of the human existence, in all its splendor and absurdity. The addition of my own whimsy and uncommon approach brings about an expression of life in the permanence of bronze. People are only one part of the whole planet and my anthropomorphic works are an exploration of the blending of man into various parts of the environment. With attention to anatomic detail and a tongue-in-cheek twist I wish to stimulate the imagination and, maybe, tickle the funny bone. Questions? Call me at 305/240-3238 A new line of work has been added that I call "Body Armor". The human form is treated as if skin was an armor that could be put on or removed as needed. If it had been lost long ago and recently rediscovered, what would it look like. ...
Arthur Bell - I admire the eccentric artists of the 19th century, like Albert Pinkham Ryder and William Blake as well as many who were untrained and painted primitively. I'm drawn to the way light was beautifully expressed in paintings by Romantics like Eugene Delacroix and Goya. Wordplay interests me and I can see humor in life along with the absurd. I can't help but include some of that in my paintings. Since having a stroke, I moved to Laguna Honda Hospital and have been telling friends this address sounds like a car dealership (which I hope would not be held against me by Saab specialists) . Like Simon on the Monty Python BBC series, "I like to draw pitchers". I've reread Jules Verne again, more recently, "The Sphinx of the Ice Fields: A Sequel to Edgar Allan Poe's The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym" after which I made a painting in 1977. ...
Debbi Chan - I am going to do an updated artist's statement. But until I submit it you have a short temporary one. As an artist I an fullfilled and contend. But at the same time I seek more , absorb more, and enjoy more. Art fills and fullfills me..I am always being an artist. My eyes see art always. This is not a hobby that I partake of when time suits. Art feeds me. Art consoles me. And being prolific it also takes my time. And for this I am thankful that i listened to my inner self. I am thankful for a following that grows by the minute. I enjoy you enjoying my portfolio. I also have come to realize that the coined phrase "starving artist" is a reality for some of us. But if you take another quote, my own , you will see that starving and rich pertain to material $. because of you the viewers , and because art is my life and my passion I can truly say that I AM RICH.. RICH WITH NO MONEY... and I can also say with truth that I am happy. I chose the path that allowed this rich life. There will continue ...

Gordana Olujic Dosic - My fibre-based mixed media work often explores the opposites of strength and vulnerability, attachment and loss, trust and betrayal. My work on paper combines drawing techniques with stitching and collage and use of title/text to provide the narrative. Some of my recent work explores universal shapes of bowl and a human hand in a playful and whimsical manner. ...
