Michael Garr - I have been drawing and painting since Junior High. I enjoy quick art, impressionistic yet realistic, and minimal. There are interesting subjects all around us. My inspirations are architecture, people, light and shadow, the sea and boats, imagination... and the old masters. Get out and enjoy your surroundings. All my works are available as signed and numbered prints. I also do commission works, some examples of which are in the portfolio. I donate all proceeds to charity (I have a day job). My opportunities for artistic expression have included drawing on napkins during airplane rides and waiting during my sons' music lessons. In 2012 I took up oil painting for the first time, and my mentor is Lorena Pugh of North Kingstown. I've done both Plein air and studio work in her presence, and am benefitting from the association. We have an informal group who meet and paint in Lorena's studio on Monday nights throughout the indoor season. I will continue to pursue art on a daily basis, and post the finished works here and on facebook for any and all to peruse. In 2003, I legally changed my name back to my original name, Michael Garr, so ...

John Sims - Following some thirty years working as a graphic designer and illustrator I began stone carving in 2000 and in 2002 I returned to college at Christ Church Canterbury in England to study BA Fine Art. In 2007 I went to the Cyprus College of Art to study for a Post Grad Diploma in Fine Art under the great Cypriot artist, Stass Paraskos. At the end of the course I was asked to stay on and run the Summer Schools and to be tutor on the Post Grad course. An incredible experience and an enormous influence on my work. My work now involves less stone carving more often found timber or kebab sticks My drawing in some respects has turned a full circle in the sense that prior to sculpture my illustration work was colourful but painstakingly detailed and stylised. At college I concentrated on measured observational life drawing in pencil which fed into the simple lines of my mainly figuratively based stone carvings. Whilst in Cyprus I re-discovered colour in both my drawing and sculpture. Dreams and mythology filled my waking and sleeping hours. Oil pastel and oil sticks became my favourite mediums to quickly capture these glimpses of ...

Collin Allen - These are a set of 12 artistic lights with differing shades and glass insulators. These lights are made from salvaged materials and the glass isolators are around a hundred years old. They were on the telegraph pole when they cut them down. There is one blue that has a small chip on the side and a small imperfection on the bottom. They aren't noticeable when installed. ...

Luiz Henrique Azevedo - Luiz Henrique da Rocha Azevedo born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1955 living in Petropolis city their youth; soon developed their fondness for drawing, sustained mainly by comics illustrated by Alex Raymond, Harold (Hal) Foster and Ray Moore. During the year of 1975 this fondness goes to the oil painting where their first works occurred oriented by a lovely old madam, Dona Marina, how he called her in the afternoon of their youth, among occasional colleagues. There will born their figurative painting. But their painting lost its space to professional career for more than 23 years until return to its place. Emerge the necessity to take the old painting case and just work where he feels better. Attended the course of realistic painters (Jose Geraldo Fajardo and Renato Ferrari) where learn and mature their technical skill associated, initially, to Rembrandt and Ruisdaels Flemish school, to Spanish painter Melendez and impressionist esteem . He chase for technical expertise and also for thematic identification that gives to him at the same time a private and plural sense to their works. Isn't an easy task but, in this process, retracting to a state that feels better to him: worried with lines, shadows, ...

Michael Navascues - WELCOME TO THE PORTFOLIO OF MICHAEL NAVASCUES In recent years I have returned to a childhood joy of painting, which I relate to an abiding love of nature and the world's great artists. My work is inspired by places, scenes, and experiences where I have lived and traveled--North Carolina, New England, Germany, Spain, etc. I paint landscapes, waterscapes, gardens--and sometimes, people, buildings, and animals. All my life I have been fascinated by the beautiful changing colors, the light, and the infinite forms in Nature. In my paintings--oils, watercolors, acrylics--I try to capture these meditative moments, and the subtle feelings, moods, and spiritual hints that a scene may awaken in me and the viewer. My work has been exhibited in many local galleries, including three solo shows....

David Larkins - I've always been intrigued by the luminosity and transparencies found in watercolor and acrylic mediums. I believe an artist must experience the painting - to absorb the surroundings, the atmosphere, to have a oneness with the subject matter before the first brush stroke is applied. My style is described as "Abstract Realism" and my strength is found in the composition. I'm drawn to diverse subject matter that challenges the viewer to see abstraction in the ordinary - to meld the "real" world with the "abstract". ...

David Larkins - Jacinta Crowley_Long - Living surrounded by her animals in Wicklow, Ireland, this professional artist has a deserved reputation as Irelands foremost contemporary canine and equestrian artist. An award winning full time professional artist, Jacinta graduated with a PhD from University College, Cork and now has both a national and international reputation for her paintings of rural landscapes, country life, period interiors and equine and dog studies. She lives in and works from an 18th century country rectory in the heart of Wicklow. Her subject matter depicts the genteel splendour, pursuits and often eccentricities of Irelands surviving country houses and demesnes. She has been selected in recent years to exhibit at the prestigious International Exhibition of Equestrian Art at both Chisties and the Mall Galleries, London. This exhibition is staged annually to showcase the work of the best of International Equine artists. The empathy she clearly has for her subjects, allied with her technical ability, knowledge of anatomy and acute observation can be seen in her evocative paintings of animals and country artifacts - all drawn from the farmyard, gardens and fields surrounding her home. Her landscapes portray an other-worldly atmosphere of moments caught in time and depict anachronistic experiences and a way of...

Jacinta Crowley_Long - Scott Kahn - I consider my work to be a visual diary, a record of my life, a reporting of the places and people I encounter. It is not easy to begin a painting, despite the variety and complexity of the world. It is important to me to have a reason to paint, for the impulse to be strong. If I do not feel compelled to work, how can I expect the viewer to respond to what I am reporting? If I am successful, hopefully, the painting will have depth, poetry, and honesty. The effect should be direct and clear. To achieve this result, a creative person calls upon every tool available to him: technical, emotional, intuitive, and intellectual. The act of creating, therefore, teaches us and reveals to us who we are and our relationship to life. This is why I paint. ...

Patrick Phelan - Artist Statement To take out a moment in time means to depart from the existence of time all together. Whether or not this is possible may be left to debate. I believe that one cannot take out any moment but may find seclusion inside of it. A person can exist in a singular phrase of time and acknowledge its beginning and end. But once the length is extended past its determinable measure, this moment's dwelling is in history. I try to give an image that connects past to future, allowing a space for present. I want the viewer to receive information along the way, and then look again. There is continuity in everything, and I wish the image to grant a constant re-examination of its faculties. I wish it to allow one to be stilled inside its movement, to be lost in a moment that has only beginning and end. ...
