Artwork Description:

from the Permanent Collection of Liturgical Art, THE PHILADELPHIA EPISCOPAL CATHEDRAL in 38th Ludlow Streets, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. NOTE This is a mixed-media, wall assemblage executed on stretched canvas. STATION NINE In Christs third fall, I mounted three silk rose buds and leaves in a gold-painted, sculpted wire birds nest. This contains multi-levels of symbolism including 1 Christs third fall 2 the Holy Trinity 3 the three hours that Christ hung on the cross 4 the Three Kings who presented gifts to Christ as a child 5 Peters three denials of knowing Christ 6 the three who stood at the cross base during the crucifixion Mary the Mother of Christ Mary Magdalene, Christ-s Companion and John, Christs Friend and 7 the three days that Christs body spent in the tomb. The bird-s nest -- a symbol that has been prevalent in my work for over thirty years -- in this STATION represents Christ as a nurturer of humanity. The square copperleaf area behind the nest symbolizes the earth and Christs rest in the earth. I used thousands of poppy seeds to surround the three roses, because the poppy is the flower of rest, which is what Christ was preparing to do for three days before his resurrection. MEDIA Copper-leaf Woven sculpture wire woven in the shape of a birds nest and then dipped in gold acrylic paint Silk Plastic Aluminum Acrylic polymers Acrylic paint Gloss acrylic gel Dried poppy seeds Heavy-duty glue Canvas Wood.

Thus, we always offer individualized attention to each client for every purchase however small or large it may be. We treat all our clients with great attention and care. We are a company with over 25 years of art experience and we always treat our artists fairly. On the internet since 1995, absolutearts.com understands that each original work of art is valuable. Whether your art purchase is a gift, a corporate piece, a private art commission or an artwork for your living room - we always respect your taste and privacy!
