Artwork Description:
This work was inspired by the painting Back from the Sea by Felix Vallotton. The painting reinterprets the image shown by Felix Vallotton in his artwork. The woman seated by the table with a book in hand watches through the canvas to the spectator trying to impose or imprint her thoughts and emotions. The pensive woman s posture and expression are similar to the sculpture The thinker by Auguste Rodin. The woman in the painting is shown dressed in a blue shall, she looks surprised and lost in thought like someone just called to her, and her mind has not been fully released from the story in the book. Though she looks aware of herself, her mind is trapped within the story and her expression somehow transposes her thoughts through the canvas.
The series of paintings Anima outlines the nature of Animus feminine aspiration, which is the personification of the most desired woman: The unreachable feminine ideal.
