Artwork Description:
The subject of this painting is the phenomenon of the information filtering bubble into which we fall using the Internet search engines and social networks.
The internet is becoming increasingly fragmented into subgroups of like-minded people. Consciously or not, we isolate ourselves in our own virtual communities, creating specific ideological bubbles. We surround ourselves with information that confirm our earlier views, cementing and radicalising them. Such a digital confirmation effect has a negative impact on working out compromises, for example in social discourse, where each party is convinced of its rightness, falls into extremes and does not allow different views. The long-lasting impasse intensifies our antagonisms.
Are we aware that our bubble exists Can we perceive the world beyond it Maybe one day we will wake up and realise that everyone around us has the same opinion as we do and the world constructed only of our thoughts is a one-dimensional world in which nothing new will meet us.
