  • Artists Describing Their Art:

    C. A. Hoffman - For me, my artwork is very personal. It reflects a lot about how I am feeling at any given time and place. I feel that art has to be on this personal level to completely capture how the artist is feeling daily, or trying to convey a certain thought or emotion at that particular moment. We all, at one time or another try to express our thoughts or ideas, whether it is to others or just to ourselves, by words, actions, ideas or pictures. If we are sucessful in this attempt, I think it shows through in our everyday work or art. I believe that one is either born to create art naturally or by learning. For me, I feel that I was born with this wonderful gift, and I try to improve upon it every day. In my photos and art, I hope to show how everyday objects and nature can capture our imaginations and feelings. Sometimes I work with an image to improve it, inhance it, or just to fuel the imagination. I truly hope this shows in all of my art. ...

Nancy Bechtol - Artists explore and give the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. I visualize and think with keen beliefs and insights. Reflection of human and societal concerns which cross emotional boundaries-- communicating that which is unspoken. My traditional art foundations of drawing, painting and printmaking, evolved into video, digital photography and experimental media. I use digital photography and imaging to envision the concepts originating from the creative pulse. An individual artist explores and gives the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. Sangeetha Bansal - I am a self taught artist, Public health dentist, a trained Indian classical dancer and love to express myself through my dance and art. I enjoy travel and have lived in different countries. During the course of my travels and work, I have had the privilege of interfacing with people across all levels of society, specially with women. I have heard their many stories. I have heard of their struggles, their joys, their beliefs, their love, their superstitions..and I have wanted to shareable of this. So, my work provides an emotional window to this beautiful creation - woman and is an ode to her. aEUR
Claudia Nierman - Some words about my work: The images I produce are deliberately enigmatic and multi-layered. They invite the viewer to engage in the process of storytelling whereby dreaming and living are woven together as a tapestry. I find the sources for my work in the urban environment: window displays, torn posters, graffiti, broken architecture. In short, the remains of man. These objects and situations are eventually transformed by rain, sun, reflections, and shadows, as well as additions made by the passerby. Shaped by the forces of chance, these ephemeral visions are captured on film (and now also in bits and bites) and used as raw material that merge one into another forming a new identity. The result? On one hand, a strange amalgam of my preoccupation with time and memory, and on the other, the way in which the deliberate manipulaton through photographic images can give us insight into our personal and collective struggles. Technical information: I usually work in three different formats: 25 cm x 30 cm and 32 cm x 45 cm printed on cibachrome paper; and a large format of 57 cm x 80 cm, digitilizing the final image and printing it on canvas. (Since this latter ...

Somtam T. - Stephen Robinson - My name is Steve Robinson and have been a photographer in one way or another since college. During that lifetime, I have traveled the world with my camera, photographing and sharing with people who will never have the good fortune to see the wonderful places I have had the good fortune to see. Along the way, my photographers eye changed. My images quieted, and I began to see the world through a very different lens. I no longer sought out the ordinary places the tourists seemed to go, and I began to find the quiet corners of the world where ordinary people lived out their lives. My images are not so much about the people themselves, but more about the places they call home, or about the places near and dear to the heart. In the past, I have visited places like the Galapagos, the deserts of the American Southwest, the wilds of Bolivia, Ecuador, Ireland, Scotland, the timeless tracts of Turkey, and the quiet corners of Italy. I have done all this, and still more. Each of my images is its own story, a poem of color and shape, an expression of soul, a blending of place, seeing, and ...
