Artists Describing Their Art:
Tina West - Statement of the artist My still life photographs are sculptural installations, created environments that give new meaning to objects, as their scale is re-addressed through a new place in space and time. All of my still life's feature found objects, including objects that in some manner find me. Together, you and I make each photograph a story. I begin the story with the photograph, but it is your reactions and experiences that complete it. Certainly, I could finish the story as it relates to me, but I am far more interested in the telling of your own story. The photograph is my vision. The story is yours. As an introduction my camera of chose is a 4x5, I consider it a medium large format. The film of choice is Polaroid 59, there is a look and feel that can be found no other way. Now Fuji instant film, as Polaroid is no longer produced. The photographs are scanned and printed as archival pigmented prints. I am a collector of thing or objects. I cannot say what I collect it varies from day to day, or year to year. Ultimately the objects speak to me, or people have given ...
Sumant Barooah - I like to do a lot of work on architecture and landscapes, especially buildings reflecting culture and landscapes playing magic with light. I am one of the opinion that photographs are work of art as no photograph can be reproduced;time and light move on as the year goes by. I like to do people in moods and sometimes the same people in different moods, varying with external or internal joys, excitement, aggravation or sorrow. Sometime even a child can have a blissful look. The photo-stories must be written with the view what the coming generations might not have the opportunity to see;not just history, environment and faith....
Pamela Henry - I am a Photography Artist. My process crosses analog and digital borders. Initially my images are captured on film, slides or digitally. I use a range of techniques from cross-process development and polaroid manipulation to digital painting, collage and layering to create what you see here. If I were to condense my thoughts on photographic expression into a single phrase it would be "in the moment". The moment begins at first sight and is complete when I release the shutter, lift my stylo from the polaroid, or remove my hand from the mouse. I know I will relive that feeling each time I look at the image, like a song or a smell that transports you to another place and time. This photographic expression translates beyond verbal expression and rests in your being, invoking a subjective reaction based on your experiences. Herein lies a collection of such moments. ...
