While growing up, I enjoyed doing anything pertaining to art. I dabbled in jewelry making, painting, basket weaving, drawing and multi media sculptures. During the multi media exploration, I came across clay and loved it. Right away I was hooked. It’s a medium I really enjoy creating and working with. I also bask in the beauty of the glazes after firing, with the various colors and textures upon completion.
A few years back, I decided to shift my career from quality assurance to involve my passion of art. I began creating animal sculptures and animal masks because of my love for animals, which I wanted to express through my art.
All my work is made by hand. I even make my own tiles and mosaic pieces. I do not use molds. I get an instant image in my head or get an image through an inspirational picture and I attempt to re-create this in clay. I stamp, roll, texture and form my pieces to get that “whimsical look” that I enjoy so much. My favorite process is making the dog bones, flowers, carrots, leaves and fish for my mosaics. By using these processes, all my work is one-of-a-kind. If needed, I can make a similar piece, but it can never be an exact replica. So, the owners of my artwork will always own an original, hand signed piece of art from Animal Instincts Art.
Currently my work is displayed at ‘The Galleria Tempest’ in Sacramento, California, ‘The Old Pueblo West Gallery’ in Sedona, Arizona, ‘The Yessy Art Gallery’ online, and ‘The Society of Mosaic Artist’ online.
Thank you so much for your time and interest in my ceramic and mosaic artwork.
