I am a painter and architect who decided to follow his true passion for painting and discovered that it is not only possible, but a duty to follow our dreams. For it is only when we do something that really motivates and stimulates us that success can truly come to us.
I was born in the Azores Islands. Since a very young age, painting has been part of my life, however, it only became a career when I decided to have an experience in Germany as an architect. It was there that I decided to dedicate myself and my life to painting.
The themes I paint are related to religion and fables, like the tales of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. My inspiration comes from religious themes and the fantastic world. The Baroque also fascinates me for its contrast, dramatic effect, and classical oil painting technique that I combine with a contemporary aesthetic that can be stylistically integrated into Pop Surrealism.
My painting is also known for the increased anatomy of the eyes. I do this because the transfer of emotion to the canvas is made easier.
I have been invited to exhibit at the Louvre in Paris, New York, and at the Vatican exhibit in Rome. These exhibits have made it possible to meet people with immense talent and establish contacts, as well as bringing me together with hundreds of galleries, publishers, and art collectors from around the world. The public reaction to my art has been very positive and it is great to see such a large number of people understand the concept behind what I create.
I have published an illustrated book that explores the literary and visual components in the stories of the Brothers Grimm. I also create merchandise out of my paintings and truly believe that it is a great way to reach the mass public and facilitate the promotion of art through prints of various forms so that art is accessible and present in everyones life.
My artwork can be defined as a way to transform my visions and dreams into substance. It is the most direct way of expressing myself and allows me to combine everything that fascinates me into a single image. My greatest pleasure is to put my art out in the world so everyone can enjoy it as much as I did creating it.
