Artwork Description:

This etching was inspired by an albumin print created between 1890 and 1910 in Bath, England. I found it in the collection of The Detroit Publishing Company, Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division Washington, D. C. Call Number LC-D428-905 PP. It depicts the area around the Abbey in Bath. I printed the work by hand using oil-based inks on RivesBFK white paper, and my etching techniques included intaglio, aquatint, and drypoint. The size of the zinc plate used was 10 inches wide by 8 inches high, or 25.400 cm by 20.320 cm. Eight baths in Nitric acid were used to obtain my design. The print size is 15 inches wide by 12 inches high, or 38.100cm by 30.480cm. My shading of the clouds lends the etching an abstract feeling. Subjects related to this work include Abbeys, Gothic, Religious Buildings, Clouds, Landscapes, Relief sculptures of Angels, Angels in Flight, New Testament, Jacobs Ladder, Architecture, and The Old Testament. Price includes archival framing, but not shipment. I hand printed by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Please note that this etching is shipped to the buyer without a frame or mat. This keeps the price reasonable and also allows the collector a wide range of choice in framing selection. For shipment, a sturdy cardboard box is employed. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping box and securely packed with bubble wrap. The price does not include any shipment cost.
